Bettacare Auto Close Stair Gate, 75cm - 82cm, White, Pressure Fit Safety Gate, Baby Gate, Safety Barrier for Doors Hallways and Spaces, Easy Installation

We purchased two of these to ensure our daughter was safe and secured from the stairs. On the following day to installing them we noticed that the one at the bottom of the stairs was swung open. We noticed the catch had fell off which secures the gate is shut. The reason is the two sets of screws had fell off. We then checked the one at the top of the stairs and found one screw had already fell off and was missing, and the catch was not secured. The screws were clearly not manufactured tight when assembling. On reading other reviews since last year, many others have had same issue, and have said they have kept having to tighten these screws. This is very dangerous, what if it happens to be loose when your child pushes the gate and then falls through it. This product is also sold under the branding SAFETOTS and similar reports have been listed there too. We reported this to Amazon who said they would remove them from the site and investigate and come back to us. They were also supposed to collect ours to test and investigate but have not done this. We chased Amazon today and noticed the items are still listed. We have made clear to Amazon this is a major safety defect and these should be removed from sale until the manufacture responds with a suitable resolution, ie prove they have resolved this defect in their manufacturing process. These are more expensive products and are actually cheap poor quality compared to other products on here for half the price. We will be taking this further to trading standards, and will challenge CE as to why these 'Safety product' for children was given approval with such poor manufacturing in a critical component to the viability of the product. DO NOT BUY THIS !!!!

It is the 6th gate in one year that I buy in order to try to get my puppies to stop following me everywhere (including the bathroom). They managed to break or escape to all the previous ones. This gate has been alive for two days so I don't know yet how long she will last but I will update my review in case. The gate is great, completely fits the description. It's sturdy and easy to install (even for a clumpsy girl like me). Overall I am really satisfied. My pups seem to love it as well 😂😂🤦‍♀️Ps: If you found this review helpful please put a like 😊

Excellent gate. Perfect for our caravan door. Keeps in our wee dogs. We didn't bother with the lock part. If you have the gate opening inwards it closes via a magnet and won't open outwards. Also when the caravan door closed it opens slightly to accompany the bin on the door. You don't have to remember to close or open the gates in this way. It's a brilliant product. The only thing I would say it is short at 75cm but fine for small dogs

Extremely disappointed, the gate comes with a plastic tie holding it closed, was concerned that there was a gap but assumed it would close after assembly and the tie was cut off, but doesn't connect, never mind lock. Thankfully is only a barrier for my dog, and having messed about getting it in situ I am not going to go through the hassle of returning it, but certainly wouldn't recommend for a child.

Arrived on 17/7 and was immediately put up in the small kitchen door frame and it fit perfectly.By 22/7 the locking mechanism decided to unscrew Without warning as it’s not something you expect to happen on a gate and this made the locking part stuck on lock.I had to remove the gate Completely from the doorway to remove the loose screws that were stopping the gate from opening as they had loosened enough to get stuck into the magnet that keeps it closed!I have fixed it myself but that was very annoying as I’ve never had a gate do this to me!In the long run I will avoid this brand in the future and stick to the well know one that I never had a problem with!!I hope it doesn’t happen again or it will be sent back as this is a danger and possible choking hazard because small parts become loose and did fall out!

UNSAFE! for two reasons! Firstly, as others have said, the lock bit totally just comes apart itself! Thankfully we noticed before either of my 1 year old twins managed to find the bits and try eating them.Also, and this is VERY concerning. MASSOVE design flaw. The gap in the two end bars is too narrow. One of my twins stuck his whole hand through it and got stuck! He is bruised from getting it back out! This should NOT be that small a gap. I was seconds away from calling the fire dept to come and cut the hate to free him. Very very distressing experience for all of us here to be honest. My boy was screaming. His twin got upset. And my other two children were very upset after seeing this happen too.Am returning the gate and bringing this issue up with the company and will take it further. This gate needs to be taken off sale.

This is exactly what I was looking for and, as you can see from the photo, it’s very effective at keeping my puppy out of my lounge unless I want him in there!!Some reviewers have commented that it was easy and fast to assemble....but maybe they didn’t have the two extensions to fit on first! In order to do this you have to pull the fittings out of the stair gate itself to fit them onto the extensions and I found this really difficult to do. After much swearing I did manage to finally get all four out but my hands hurt for ages afterwards! That was the only reason it didn’t get that elusive 5th star.That was the only downside though. Once the extensions were fitted on the rest of it was easy and, much to my puppy’s dismay, it’s sturdy and well made. He won’t be getting through it or over it!Delivery was super quick too and there were clear instructions included (makes a refreshing change these days!!).I would definitely recommend this stair gate for effectively keeping destructive puppies out of your lounge but do make sure you’ve got someone with strong hands with you if you’re fitting an extension!!
