I've used file boxes like these since my now fourth-grader started Pre-K. I need a place for each year's papers, projects, and art and with the detached lid, I can one-handedly open and slide papers in quick, before they start piling up on the kitchen table! I had been ordering a different brand of black file boxes that snap together and they're great too, and kind of cool looking, but I live in the desert, and fresh dust is visible on black surfaces moments after I've dusted them off. So this year I decided to go with tan or grey boxes and found these. These are literally Heavy Duty. I mean, they weigh a ton in a very good way. Unboxing them and putting them together was a cinch as all I really had to do was slide the bottom board in over the fabric at the bottom of each box. Thoughtfully, these bottom pieces have a little pull tab I can leave up in case I ever need to remove it for folding.The fabric covering the boxes is attractive to the eye and soft to the touch while maintaining a low enough knap that I'll be able to dust or vacuum them off with ease. I love that each has a label I can mark with the grade that the box contains. For my purposes, the only drawback to these is the open holes for the handholds since that will let dust in. I'm not looking to hermetically seal these but my flimsier paper snap boxes have flip-up D shaped handles that do the job just as well. Still, the color and richness of these boxes outweigh the somewhat industrial, groovy look of the black boxes from years past. These are on a bookshelf in my main room so looks matter!For the price and my purpose, these file boxes are pretty close to ideal. I could easily see using them as actual file boxes as the top edges are firm and solid enough to hold the weight of file folders. The loose fit of the lids allows room for the hangers to sit on top. There is no separate rail inside and they do not come with any folders if you were wondering. As with my other boxes, I don't think I'll stack them more than two tall, but I feel confident that these will support that weight. It's incredible what a year's worth of school stuff can weigh!Anyway, thanks for these lovely boxes and the assistance they provide in helping me at least save the important stuff, even if I do remain fundamentally disorganized. That's just me... ;)

These file boxes were easy to assemble, look just like the photo and hold a good number of folders. A good value.

Very attractive storage boxes. They are sturdy and hold letter-size file folders very well. It is a little difficult to slide the files as they slide directly on cloth, but they are still very usable. The lid is a bit too snug once the file folders are in or I would have given them five stars. Overall I am very satisfied with these storage boxes.

Very impressed! This is EXACTLY as described. My hanging files do work well with this, the lid closes perfectly over the files -they do somewhat stick to the fabric, but I don’t mind that. They also came with a label paper to label the boxes, and I’m really happy they have handles to easily carry. They even gave me a thank you letter! I was hesitant on buying this because of other reviews, but I am glad I went for it! These are such nice and functional boxes. The picture with the box closed is it with the hanging files already in it.
