Great early morning insomnia read!
This series is quite entertaining & it grabs the reader’s attention! Even though it involves a police force, the cast of characters is very likeable. The suspense came throughout this story. I do recommend this series !

Great read
A routine but catastrophic pileup on the treacherous winter highway through Arrow Pass draws Inspector Hilary Casgrain and her team into a web of violence that threatens the nearby community of Elk Ridge. While checking vehicles caught in the winter pileup, Casgrain finds the body of a woman she recently had a dispute with – a dispute that, thanks to people with cell phones and too much time on their hands, ended up on the intranet. That body, combined with the aftermath of the storm and the crash, and a random stabbing at a local hotspot, keep Casgrain and her team busy.I read the first book in the series, Murder at Elk Ridge, and liked it so much I immediately bought (and read) this one. I was not disappointed. The plot had it all – accidents, multiple murders, drug running, natural born killers, and the return of a character I particularly like from earlier in the series that Casgrain hasa crush on. These books are well written, with good dialogue, great descriptions, and a nice balance of work life and home life. I enjoyed watching how Hilary got herself out of predicaments and kept her team safe.Shillolo also writes the Holly Towns/Port Alma Murder Mysteries, of which the Elk Ridge books are a spin-off, and the the Poodle Versus … cozy series. I stumbled on this author, and I’m glad I did. Well worth a read.

Exciting Story leaves me wanting more!
Murder at Arrow Pass is the second book in the Inspector Hilary Casgrain series (or the third, if you count the prequel novella). This is another powerful and enjoyable story that is characteristic of the author. The strength of this book is a good storyline, which develops the relationships between the main characters and links back to characters and plots from the two previous stories. The first half of the book moves slowly as the relationships (especially between the police officers) are developed. This pace is appropriate for getting to know the characters. Fear not, though: The action accelerates in the second half. My only quibble was that the ending dragged a bit and might have occurred sooner.

Twisted minds
Elk Ridge has another string of murders. The most intense blizzard of the season, a flu outbreak, and a possible narcotics ring are just the beginning.

Upping the danger level
Things keep going from bad to worse for Inspector Hilary Casgrain. First she’s caught on video in a heated conversation with a woman the police have been surveilling, then storms roll in and it’s pandemonium as roads ice up. But the cherry on the cake is when a body turns up dead in suspicious circumstances, pulling Hilary and the police force of Elk Ridge into a new and very unusual case. Add in armed assailants from a case in another district, and things just got a bit more deadly.Everything that made the first book good is turned up a notch in this second installment of Hilary Casgrain series. All the relationships are established, and naturally deepen throughout the story, which is nice to see from Hilary, who is a hard person naturally. With an increasingly thrilling plot and a satisfying ending, this book has me intrigued for what comes next. If you enjoyed Murder in Elk Ridge, this book is a must-read. Definitely worth it.

Great investigating
Hillary Casgrain has taken a job as an inspector in the small ski town of Elk Ridge. She is so ready to relax and do some small-town policing. But when 3 people are murdered in the same way, Hillary and her team think maybe a serial killer is in town. The team works diligently to find this murderer. The team finally comes up with the motive for these murders and it puts Hilliary as possibly the next victim.I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
