Both ends are open.
It wipes the windshield very clean and clear. Be aware that both end of the refill are open. You have to make one end closed. Otherwise the refill will slide out of the holder.

Low Quality
Bought 2 sets and both failed in less than 2 months. Replaced both sides on two different vehicles and all four had the edges separate. Waste of time.
