As a product it works flawlessly. It's very easy to setup in terms of hardware and also the app, but as another reviewer has pointed out, it does require you to setup a VPN connection. In some ways this makes it much more secure to prevent outsiders from capturing your data, but it also makes it a lot less secure because it gives Yottamaster potential to infiltrate your network.Having said that, if you're using a cloud server provided by a company, then they have access to all your data being stored with them anyway. If you trust them with the data on your SSD/HDD, then would you not trust them here? It's all down to what level of risk you're willing to accept, but just by connecting to the internet, you're taking a risk. It's down to you, but this product works flawlessly for what it claims it can do. Would recommend!

I’ve used NAS drives for some time, though I’m not someone who continually delves into the settings and tweaks them. For me a NAS drive is something I want to be able to set up easily, then leave it to work reliably forever and a day. That means I have to have faith in the product, and also in the manufacturer. As this is my first time using a Yottamaster device I am still building my confidence with it, and so far have chosen to use this NAS only for non-sensitive files, and those which I also have on another more trusted NAS.Setting up this NAS drive was easy enough, and did not take long. I like the simplicity of this process and it did feel slick though I have some concerns about permissions. It has been working well over the past few weeks, with no issues at all with performance. Build quality is good and I’ve been pleased that the unit feels robust too.

Forget this as a NAS drive. To use as a nas drive, an app must be installed on your PC or phone. If you refuse the app, you are unable to use the drive as a NAS, it's just a glorified SSD exclosure. Massively overpriced as just an enclosure.If you don't understand networking very well, the VPN access would give them access to far more than just your traffic. Your device could be attacked behind the protection your routers firewall provides. Spyware, trojans or viruses could be planted that could gain access to anything unprotected. And a company that would demand such access, what they could do with the app on your phone should keep you awake at night. This is scary.Such a shame, this could have been an awesome little device.
