Beautiful book!
This is a beautiful book for all those who love sweets or who also love to give them as presents, which is my case! The book starts with a chapter about the equipment and techniques that is very handy even if you, like me, are a seasoned cook because there are always handy tips that either one didn't know yet or had forgotten about. I found especially interesting the techniques to make pulled sweets, something I have never attempted to make! Then there are many recipes of all kinds of sweet from truffles, to candied and crystallized fruits, fudge, chocolate coated fruits, how to make marzipan, jellies, fruit leather, several types of lollipops, caramels, etc but this all linked to health benefits. Of course one is allowed to eat or give sweets just for the fun of it but it is interesting to know what the health benefits are. The only thing I found rather irritating was the constant mention to the good and bad cholesterol while it is known now that all cholesterol is very necessary for good health and that no food makes our cholesterol rise. If you eat less fat your liver makes more cholesterol, if you eat more it makes less so it is always balanced and all the cholesterol lowering drugs are the source of many modern health problems. That aside this is a truly great book. The recipes are well explained and the photos are beautiful! Well worth buying and this is said by someone who has a big collection of cook books!
