Versatile but power HUNGRY
I've found this piece of kit versatile and it can be programmed in various different ways from simple hands-off shutter release to more technical intervalometer, which is very useful when shooting stars. However, you'll need a continuous source of fresh batteries to keep it going. It drains batteries like you wouldn't believe! I own an SLR so I'm used to a camera that can handle thousands of shots between charges - but this intervalometer cannot keep up. You'll find yourself swapping batteries at least once if doing a long night shoot. I cannot understand how something this simple (basically a timer/stopwatch when you think about it) can drain a power source this damn quickly. There is also no power off switch to allow you to preserve precious power.

excellent item
I've purchased one of these for each of my cameras and they work great! the only wish i have is to allow 999 shots instead of 399, not sure why thats the limit but but i'm not all that bothered. otherwise i use the heck out of these remotes for my canon 5D II and 7DII, shooting timelapses, long exposure and delayed timed shots. they are easy to use and an essential tool for my landscape, light painting & night photography.

Jintu® Original Time Lapse Intervalometer Remote Timer Shutter Remote Control For NIKON D200 D300 D300s D700 D800 D800E D810 D1 D1h D1x D2 D2H D2Hs D2X D3 D3X D3S D4 D4s For FUJI S3 Pro Digital SLR Replaces MC-30 Macro Delay ShootingI was very kindly sent this interval meter at no cost to me to test and then produce and honest review. In the box.The main unit, instructions and camera specific connecter (in my case Nikon ). You will need to purchase 2 X AAA batteries to power the unit (not supplied). What it does. This unit can be programmed to take single, multiple and timed shots. This is very useful when taking pictures of flowers opening when you want a time series. It also works as an electronic cable release to reduce camera shake on long exposures in astrophotography.I have put it to a somewhat specialist use to photograph cultures of bacteria growing so that I can estimate their growth curve. It saves coming back every 20 minutes to take a picture. There are many applications this unit can be put to in science photography. It also has an exposure lock button that keeps the shutter open as long as it is on. This is used for very long exposures like star trails.Set up.Firstly fit the batteries and then connect the unit to the camera. The Nikon D800 I connected it to recognised the timer with no settings necessary. The timing and intervals are set on the unit itself using a mode switch and rocker buttons just like a remote control. The unit also has back lighting that can be switched on to check settings in the dark, ideal for astrophotography.Using.Once the timer is set you just let it get on with it. You need to make sure you have enough space on your memory for the shots and enough battery capacity in your camera if you are taking many shots. Apart from this it’s a set and leave system that works superbly well in practice.I have only had it a few days but keep finding uses for it. The LCD readout is easy to read and understand and the timings are very accurate. This is important for scientific use.Overall.This is a very nice photographic accessory which can be used as a simple cable release or a sophisticated multiple shot timer. Scientists, nature and astrophotographers will love this. It is well made, versatile and comes in at a very reasonable price. Very happy to recommend it.The company also produces a wireless version which is equally as good.
