Second Language Acquisition and Task-Based Language Teaching

Not useful for teachers.
The writer's basic propositions are (1) course book publishers are big bad capitalists and (2) teachers are incompetent so (3) hire specialist TBLT professionals to do a needs analysis for your students and everything will be ok.The author has nothing to say about EFL environments or young leaners, which is not surprising given his background in US university academia: he is happiest when he is anthologising research. There are many books on TBLT which are useful for teachers who want to implement TBLT in their classrooms: Nunan, Rod Ellis, the two Willises, and Prabhu if you are lucky enough to get a copy. to name a few.

Highly recommended to all English teachers
The breadth and depth of Long's knowledge is mind blowing. And all presented in a very practical manner and easy to follow even for readers with little previous knowledge of second language acquisition

Outstanding book on an important topic
This book is a must read. And, unlike many books written on Second Language Acquisition, this one is very well written. It is a pleasure to read.
