Life saver
Definitely a life saver, extremely impressive and easy to install. We have an automatic feeder with WiFi / camera for if or when we leave on short trips. Unfortunately the day after we left on a longer two week trip, I saw on the camera a stray cat chasing my cat away and eating all her food - every day. I couldn’t do anything as I watched my cat starve (not really starve, cats are survivors but what an inconvenience for her). That’s when I purchased this great product and a pellet gun! Easy to install, easy for my cat to use (only my cat can access her room), great app that’s easy to use, with lots of extra features including notifications and tracking. My kitty now has her own safe space without having to wear a collar that could possibly get hung up or lost. Absolutely love this product and highly recommend it. It made my new pellet gun completely not needed. See? It saved my cats life from starving by giving her a safe space and her own food. And it also saved that overly aggressive stray bully cats life that was taking her food for herself. Life saver!!!! Anybody what an unused pellet gun?

Plastic Junk. Horrible App. Very Hard to Install. DO NOT BUY!
*****UPDATE**** I'VE HAD THIS FOR OVER A MONTH NOW. THE APP IS JUNK. THEY UPDATED IT WHILE WE WERE AWAY AND IT LOCKED MY CATS OUTSIDE. SECOND. NOW THE CURFEW MODE DOES NOT WORK. DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOUI ARE WILLING TO LET YOUR PET DIE OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT OR COLD. All of this is plastic junk. I installed the door in wall next to the door. First off, you mount the door with screws from the outside. And screws are not long enough to reach the inside part. Not only that, they did not think about weather at all. I have to add caulking and other items to keep the weather out. So prepare to buy that as well. I needed two extensions each is only 2 inches. These are plastic crap that you need to duct tape together. They do not snap together nor does the lip go all the way around. You also need to seal them, unless you want water to come through and into your wall. And remember this is the tunnel from the outside that your cats will be using. Next, know that the outside trim piece is plastic and does not fit tightly around the plastic extensions. There is 1/8 inch space all the way around. Once again, get ready to caulk and seal or you will have water in your wall/door. Now, lets talk about the App. It sucks. Period. Once you have trained you cat to go through the door it reads the chip, which just a long number. You can change the number to the cat's name, BUT you must fill out ALL the profile data for the cat, including a sub bread. WTF? Next, to set the time zone, you know so you can use the curfew feature, it has EVERY SINGLE TIME ZONE LISTED AND NO WAY TO FIND YOUR CURRENT ONE. You scroll forever, past Madagascar, and still no Pacific time zone, listed. Again. WTF? You can turn off the dumb green cat ears. Trust me, when you see how bright they are, you will turn them off. If not, it's like having a stop light in your living room. Finally, the door is ok, but the cat must almost bump the door before it unlocks. I would not recommend this product. In fact, I wish I could return this and get something else.

The BEST cat door Ever!
I LOVE this cat door. I don’t know what these other reviews are doing but this is a quality and sturdy door. And I’m particular with what I buy. All the things you can do from your smartphone besides being able to track your cat’s comings and goings makes it worth the price you pay. We have a cat that lives in our shed and keeps the rodent population to zero. With this door I can make sure he’s safely locked in at night and it also doesn’t allow strange cats or other wild animals to even enter the shed, keeping my cat safe from unknown "friends." On bad weather days I can even keep him restricted to inside with no outside access. ALL FROM MY PHONE. Love it! And my husband will say it was easy to install and to get it up and operating. One of the best inventions ever made when a cat mom is stressed whether her cats are safely tucked in bed at night or bad weather!!

Very good high tech product, not 100%
Overall, this is a very smart product, unlike anything on the market, and works well. It uses your cats existing microchip to determine who is allowed in and out of the house . This also means that raccoons and skunks cannot get in through the cat door. The fact that you can program every cat and see when they come in the door and out of the door is fantastic. You can set the door time to open and close and it will always let a cat back inside who might have accidentally gotten out. You use an app to control the door and it's easy to use and very intuitive. If you stay out late for dinner, then you can set the door to close at an earlier time using the app, so your pets are in safe. However, if you absolutely must keep a cat inside, known to the system to be an indoor only pet, it isn't 100% foolproof. Of course...Nothing in life is! I wanted to keep my kitten inside until he had all his shots, but continue letting the older cat in and out of the house on his own schedule. It worked okay in the beginning, but as the kitten got more and more curious about where the older cat was going, he figured out to wait for the older cat to start coming through the door and then he would squeeze his body underneath the older cat and get through the door! Both cats are indoor outdoor cats now and the door is still working very well. The batteries lasted about four months which I think is okay. There were a lot of complaints about the batteries expiring much sooner than that. I still wish there was another way to power it then batteries but that's okay. Make sure you do the measurements. I used an existing cat door hole but because this door opening is smaller, it's kind of awkward for my larger cat to get in and out easily. He can do it, but because of the size of the door you want to make sure it's not too low to the ground. He weighs 11 pounds and it is a tight fit. And finally, some feedback for the company who makes this....You have an amazing product!! However, you need to simplify your product line and offer all of the features in more of your products. Trying to find the right product, with all of the features I wanted, took me days of reading and I almost didn't buy it because it was so confusing! I understand you want to diversify your market and provide products at multiple price points because it's so darn expensive, but, your current method is just too confusing for the customers. And, please make the doors bigger for larger cats (and STILL include all the tech features). IT'S EXPENSIVE BUT IT'S WORTH IT!

Amazing, life changing. No more raccoons, So reliable
We needed to get a cat house & smart door due raccoons coming to take all the food every day!! No more raccoons now they can’t get in! We have had this door for 2 months & we haven’t had a raccoon since! I had tried another door before this one & it was unreliable I didn’t trust it neither did my cat. Now this one is 100% reliable always opens when my cat gets close. My cat loves it! & the app is great to know when she goes in and out & to know the battery level. It took a more than a month to train my cat to use the door but it worked by taping the door up & making the gap smaller day by day. Thank God for this door.

The only show in town, but pricy wasted potential
Updates* *Added one star for outstanding customer service. I'm keeping this because there are no good alternatives out there, but it's a deeply disappointing product with a lot of unrealized potential. Pros: • It exists • more or less does what it says on the tin. Cons: • can not program cats separately (all added cats have same privileges.. the only way to restrict a cat is not to add them to the flap at all) *update: the smaller cat flap version *can* Program individual pets but this one apparently not. If you need that feature, and your nail as will fit, go for the smaller one. • very clunky app • magnets that keep flap closed are too strong, especially for training cat. • Flap is not motorized and can catch the cats tail when closing (especially with strong magnets) • doesn't work at all if too close to metal (this is more down to physics, but worth noting) specifically, it would not work with a sliding door pet flap insert with an aluminum frame. • feels chintzy given the price (everything, including the latches and hinges, is thin plastic) • Buttons and built in screen are dated and unintuitive • requires hub • glitch whereby same cat appears differently for cat flap and feeder. Use case: Actually using this indoors... we have an elderly cat that needs constant access to special food or she throws up. We tried an automatic feeder but she gets stressed with other cats around and won't eat. using this cat flap we could give her private access to the bedroom to eat in peace whenever she likes. It works for this, but only barely. I wanted to add all the cats in the family, so we could program them to be let out if they got stuck in the room, and we could know who was approaching the door etc. given the underlying tech this seems entirely feasible, but it's simply not implemented in the app (same is true for their connect feeder). The only solution is not to add the other cats at all. (*or to buy the smaller cat flap connect) luckily, by default the latch is configured such that anything can push the flap open from inside to go outside, so it works for us, But let's say you wanted to keep one cat in because you'll need to be taking them to the vet, but let other cats out? Sorry no can do. I'll update this review if there's ever a firmware/app update to address this but I'm not holding my breath. The flap itself is a regular rigid flap that works with gravity like any other cheap cat flap. the hinge is just part of the plastic flap and prone to snapping, just like any other cheap cat flap. however it has strong magnets at the bottom which are required to get it to align so that when the cheap plastic latches come up from the bottom the flap is in the right place between them and they actually work. The magnets are so strong I had to remove one of them so that my elderly cat could nudge the flap open. with a missing magnet it doesn't reliably close to the correct position, but this happens more often over the latch that would prevent exiting, which we don't use, so in our specific use case it's not a deal breaker. At this price point I'd much rather see: - a motorized flap (this would eliminate the need for magnets and would be kinder to cat tails) - a flap with a separate reinforced hinge less prone to snapping - an option for continuous power - hub free (thread?) alternative - discrete controls/settings for each pet

Great pet door!
Excellent pet door! I have assembled the second such door along with the hub and the phone app. Can easily trace my cat whether he is in or out. Highly reliable.

Cats won’t use it - Door too hard to open
I HATE this door! If you are thinking about buying it, be sure that your cat doesn’t mind pushing really, really hard against the door. It does not open easily and my three cats just won’t push that hard. They put their paws through it but are defeated with how forcefully it pushes back. They don’t understand pushing their head against something so hard to open. I mean, who would. It’s not necessary for the functionality of the features for the door to be so frustratingly difficult to open. There is no training mode where the suction effect is turned off so no easy way to train them to go through the door using treats. Treats only work if they can smell them and get their head close to the treat. In order to do this you have to hold the door open which defeats the purpose of trying to get them to get used to pushing through it. I hate, hate, hate it. Total waste of money for me. I have to tape it open to get them to come in. This is getting them used to feeling the door on their backs, but when I have the door taped that low, they can’t get out. Plus, it doesn’t teach them to push hard against the door. This door SUCKS!!! I wish I had been able to get it installed earlier, but unfortunately, my handyman wasn’t available until after the 30 day return window closed or I’d return it in a heartbeat. The main reason I wanted this door instead of the flap door I was using that allowed any animal to come in and out was to keep an outdoor semi-feral cat that I TNR’d out of the house. She picks on my girls, fights with them and they don’t like her. Well, let me just say taping the door open doesn’t keep her out and, because it’s see through and the last one was opaque, she’s even less afraid to come in through this door. All in all, we spent probably $500 dollars on this door: hub, door, wall tunnel and installation. I read the other reviews where people said that their cat just refused to push through it. I thought because my cats were already used to a cat door that the resistance of this door wouldn’t be a deterrent. I WAS WRONG. So very wrong. I’ve spent hours with high value treats: Churu, freeze-dried minnows, fish, but it’s very difficult to entice them when the door has to be closed and the treat is on one side and they are on the other. The scanner works okay, but if you have to tape the door open for training purposes it doesn’t tell you who came in and who went out. So now I have a hole in my wall, an unhappy husband, $500 dollars gone that I didn’t really have and less security than I had before. I thought it would be great to have a door that keeps out unwanted cats and has a curfew so that a cat sitter wouldn’t have to manually close/lock the door, but right now, this set up is not going to work for a cat sitter. I can’t say this enough, I HATE, this door. If you buy it, install it immediately and start trying to train your cats to go through it immediately so that you are able to return it if your cats refuse to push through it. I’ll probably have it removed and try to sell it on eBay, or something, but I’m sure I’ll take a bath. I had to give this review at least one star, but if not for the rules it would get no stars. I’m so angry right now. Why not have a training mode people?
