Misleading title. Available for less directly from publisher.
This book is about diagnosing children and adolescents, not interviewing them for therapeutic purposes. Unlike Morrison's book, "The First Interview," which is about conversing with clients as a means of devising clinical interventions, this book is purely diagnosis.Guilford, the publisher, sells the titles for much less, directly from their website. And, free shipping.

LIFESAVER and MUST HAVE if Not Use to Working with Children
In Psych NP school and used to working with adults. First time working with children was difficult for me. My preceptor kept telling me that they are just little people but that didn’t help me. After my practicum was over I found this book. Wish I had found it sooner as it really provides insight into interviewing children/adolescents and made me feel less incompetent as it discusses that being able to work with adults does not easily translate into being able to work children. Whew!!! Relief! Thought it was just me. Great read. Great find. Will be ready for those 80 children/adolescents two semesters from now.

OK as a guide to trainees in Psychiatry
Not as clear and luvid as the previous edition.Appears to be a rushed job.As an experienced consultant for over 30 years am recommending it to trainees as a reasonable starting point in interviewing children and families.
