RCA BRC10BL Bathroom Clock Radio (Blue)

My previous one was terrific. This new one malfunctioned. I had to pay to return it. Not happy.

Great shampoo-tube-like design, and I like that there are many buttons so it's not difficult to use without glasses on when you have shampoo in your eyes. But there is a huge problem: the audio quality is horrible. There is almost no treble, just a lot of very narrow midrange. It's near impossible to make out what DJs are saying. The reception is also middle-of-the-road; my bathroom window needs to be open or I get loads of interference. Also, it would have been nice if this radio tuned in world FM steps and not just American ones. All in all, it looks kinda pretty but it doesn't work too well. If I could have gotten something better, I would.

I have to confess to having a bit of a `thing' about shower/bathroom radios - I love to lie for ages in the bath (can't understand these people who get in and out in a flash - and I don't like showers) and cannot bear silence, and so always need a nice radio on hand that I can take through with me to listen to my favourite station Classic FM while I'm in there. I do have quite a few it must be said, but every now and then I will be surprised with a really nice one. This one is absolutely GORGEOUS! Having had quite a bit of experience as to the quality and life-span of some shower radios, this looks very well built and designed indeed, and I should imagine that with loving care this will last probably a lifetime! The buttons are the `press' type and are all `flush' with the unit, and so can hardly get damaged or dirty with normal use. The plastic body is BEAUTIFULLY finished in hi-gloss! GORGEOUS aqua blue colour and it sits perfectly on a corner of the bath. It looks just like an over-sized tube of shower gel! A very large clear and easy to read screen for tuning and also contains a clock! Sound quality is SUPERB! (please remember though that you get a `transistor' radio type sound - not stereo hi-fi - but still one of the best sounding ones I've bought for some time!) I do have a more expensive rechargeable radio for the bathroom - but the recharging facility is a nuisance and unreliable, and so I highly recommend one of these. I purchased this from Amazon USA - they do ship to the United Kingdom, (I love Amazon1) and it was dirt cheap - even including the shipping!A real MUST for anyone who loves listening to music in the bathroom!FLAWLESS!NOTE: Clock also has a blue light that lights up the whole display!

Small footprint good in bathroom but prone to being nocked over from night stand. Tends to have static even on FM stations and you have to try moving it to different locations for clear sound. Sound is loud enough to hear while taking a shower, but my iPhone has better sound quality. If you listen a lot, batteries last about a month. Replacing batteries clears all station presets and time of day. Plastic case tends to be hard to grip. It would be better if there were indentations near the top to make it easier to pick up and hold the device.

Most of the poor ratings of this clock radio are from folks who were expecting a shower radio--one that can be deluged with water and survive. Not this clock radio--this works perfectly as a radio that sits on your bathroom dresser to keep you company while you are getting dressed in the morning. It will not provide accompaniment for popstar wannabes when belting out tunes while bathing.The radio is well designed--it looks very much like an upright shampoo bottle, so it is discreet in appearance which works for a bathroom. We own the green one, and the entire radio--including the buttons--are of the one color tone. The screen light, when the backlight button is pushed, has a purplish glow. All the buttons are slightly recessed, which I assume, provides protection against moisture and small amounts of wetness. The battety compartment is screwed down, and must be removed with a screwdriver (I assume for the same reason the buttons are recessed), so make sure you use some long-lasting batteries.The AM/FM radio uses a digital tuner, which is great--no turning dials to find stations. You can save stations as presets, so no worries as to the radio getting accidentally bumped and your station getting lost in the bathroom shuffle. There is no external antenna, but the radio picks up our local NPR station clear and strong. the speaker is more than adequate for a bathroom--it actually can get quite loud. We aren't a household of bubble-bathers, so we don't use it for an extended period of time. There is no alarm function, so it is not designed to be a bedside radio.A great clock radio--recommended. Just don't bathe with it.

I ordered two different shower clock radios, and it wasn't even a contest: this RCA Bathroom Clock Radio is better by leaps & bounds. It's size and shape make it an easy fit on my shower caddy, and even looks like my shampoo bottle. The stations come in very clear (maybe not every single station, but that's to be expected) and I love, love, love that the tuner is digital, and easily changed with the press of a button - not like the archaic wheel like the other one I tried.My other favorite feature is the large, easy-to-read, digital clock! For me, that was the primary reason I made these purchases (the radio was just a bonus). The RCA model has a great time display, that even lights up in blue if you want. It's quite handy for making sure I stay on time with my busy schedule. The other one had a very small and tiny time display, and I was irritated each time I had to stop and move closer to it to tell the time (which was a waste of time).The only problem with this product is deciding which fun color you want, and how many to get! (I will most likely now get another one for our guest shower, and maybe another one for travel)

Unfortunately, it is designed for use in a big city where you have access to numerous radio stations. In Cobourg, reception on FM is limited to two local stations. Unable to pick up any Toronto stations even though we are only 50 miles away.

Not as good as I thought it was going to be and took a super long time to arrive.

A genuine morceau du merde. The radio died after ~2-3 weeks, the clock shortly thereafter. Luckily, the provider did not require me to return it for a refund.
