Best chair I've ever had
This chair might be a little pricey, but it's oh so worth it! This is the most comfortable desk chair I've ever experienced. Great back support. I love that it swivels and rocks a little for my restless self. Easy to assemble. Easy to adjust. Feels strong and sturdy.

Good Chair, Easy to Assemble and Adjust
I got it assembled in maybe 10 minutes. I followed the assembly video and it was perfect. Many comments said the paper instructions were bad, so I didn’t even look at them. A couple reviews said you need to buy wheels with this chair, which confused me a bit but it does come with wheels. I like how easy the chair is to adjust. For reference I’m 6’3” and slender. The lumbar support at the highest setting is perfect. The armrests can be easily adjusted as well, width and height. I find the narrowest setting fits most naturally, but they can go pretty wide as well. It has many different options for armrest height, so it was easy to fine tune. After adjusting to fit me, this chair is comfortable and supportive. It feels sturdy, but I cannot yet speak to its durability. Each piece of the chair seems solid and they lock together in simple ways without any apparent weak points. I hope to get a few good years out of it, and more would be great. Over 1 year later: still going strong. With college and a remote work, I have spent many hours sitting in this chair. You can't tell from looking at it and it's still sturdy and supportive.

Great Chair - Buy with confidence
For context - I am 6'4" and 230 lbs and been using the chair almost daily for 6 months now. I bought a few chairs and researched a lot before landing on this chair. Overall, I am a fan of this chair and it checked all the boxes for me for a sub $500 chair. It will not compete against the $800++ chairs that are more for corporate wear and tear. Assembly: Straight forward and easy. No issues with any alignment or things not fitting. I had it assembled in under 30 mins. Comfort: The chair is comfortable ONCE you break it in. I found the chair a bit uncomfortable the first few weeks and almost returned it but kept it as I felt it would break in. After that, this chair has been comfortable with me using it 6++ hours a day. No issues with handling my weight. Ergonomics: The height and lumbar support works well. No issues but my one challenge is that the arm rests need to a little lower. I have longer arms and my arms/elbows sometimes rest on the arm rests and they are not padded well enough for that. It can cause pain so I have learned to adapt/adjust to that. I wish they could be lowered a bit more so my elbows did not hit them. Overall, I strongly recommend this char and over 6 months - I have had no issues with quality, comfort or challenges. Happy with the purchase. Buy with confidence!

Great for my achin’ back
It’s very comfortable, good lumbar support. Looks great, too. Part of me wishes I had gone with the all-fabric option, but I think I will appreciate the mesh back when summer eventually arrives. Lots of adjustments.

Neither comfortable nor cheap
The HON ignition chair is supposed to be a luxury chair at an affordable price point. However it fails on both fronts as it is neither luxurious or cheap. Here are the shortcomings that I noticed: 1. Quality - The chair I got had frayed and loose threads. The seat cover is stapled to some cardboard under the seat in a sloppy manner. 2. Assembly - The manual they share with the chair is outdated. It is from some outdated model or different chair so the steps or parts don't match. I could only get 3/5 castor wheels to fit properly. 3. Ergonomics - The back support relies on putting excessive pressure to bend slightly. If you want a brick wall for your back, looking to tie someone up for interrogation or are simply looking for a chair to perform an exorcism in, this is the perfect chair for you. 4. Comfort - I had the chair for two weeks at home. During that time I preferred to sit on a plastic stool and did all my office work on it. It was way more comfortable. 5. Disassembly - I decided to return the chair. I couldn't find any official manual for disassembly. The disassembly instruction link on their website is a dummy manual for some other chair. 6. Cost - The chair isn't cheap as I can buy better chairs for lower price. If you're looking for a luxury chair, do yourself a favor and spend a little more for an actual luxury chair. If price is a limitation then again do yourself a favor and purchase a cheaper chair for better comfort.

Switching from a gaming chair in my home office
I've been using a gaming chair in my home office for years. While it was very comfortable it always felt cheap. It creaked and multiple parts broke, including the stem for the gas piston. While the company did honor their warranty it still meant I spent many days without a comfortable office chair. Finally my dog got his collar stuck on the recline handle and broke it out of warranty. This time I decided to go the office chair route. This was one of the few on my short list and it had 1 day shipping. 21 hours after I ordered it had arrived. Box was in good shape. Putting this chair together was breeze. This chair is very adjustable so I spent some time adjusting everything to my liking. Ergonomically everything fits just right. However, and I suspected this from the pictures, the padding in the seat is quite stiff upon arrival. That meant this chair was uncomfortable.. at first. Now that I've had it over a week, and added the HON headrest, the comfort level is rising. I think over time as the foam becomes less stiff the level of comfort will continue to go up. tl;dr: Upon arrival I probably would have only given this chair 3 stars but it has increased to a 4 after a week of breaking it in. Hopefully my prediction is correct and I can increase it to 5 as time goes by. I'll update if/when it becomes relevant. Update: After a month, the padding has been thoroughly broken in and my sitting experience is an enjoyable one. Fifth star earned!

It's okay, but it cuts me every now and then
The chair is okay. It's neat having all these adjustments. I like the arm rests well enough. The seat cushion in comfortable, but I find the fabric on both the cushion and the seat back to be rough. It's not much of an issue through clothes, but on bare skin it can be uncomfortable. For the recline/tilt it takes a bit of effort to push it back, even with the tension set to the lowest. It's really awkward trying to reach the lock control while reclining. It has 2 points where it can be locked in a reclined position, in addition to the upright. The max recline is too far back, I think it needs a headrest to be usable. I haven't been able to figure out a comfortable position for the lumbar support. You can adjust the height, but not the pressure/how far it sticks out, or maybe raising it makes it protrude more? Sometimes when I walk the seat forwards the base/wheels nips at my heels. It's drawn blood a few times in the 1.5 months I've had it. The bottom edges of the base have sharp plastic, and then the wheel is turned inward that sharp part is exposed.

SIT ON CUSHION BEFORE ASSEMBLY
SIT IN THE CUSHION BEFORE ASSEMBLY! After I assembled I was going to return it cause seat cushion is very hard. But couldn’t get the stem out without scratching or damaging. So better or worse I’m keeping it. Take my advise. Sit on the cushion alone. If you love it great, if not send it back before you assembled it. So probably like many people, I am disappointed that the only way to shop for office chairs is online. The retail office chains do not stock a wide variety of chairs. I read on many “best office chair” reviews, from Forbes and NYT Wirecutter that the HON Ignition was a recommended buy in the under $500 category. I was hesitant to buy it however because I wanted to sit on it first as well as the Branch Ergonomic Chair but couldn’t find it in any stores. Given no choice I ordered it and hoped for the best. Assembly super easy, so that was good. My initial impression is while it is comfortable and offers a lot of adjustments, the cushion is somewhat hard and slopes upward at the front which I don’t love. The armrests are very short at only 9 inches, and are not very padded and look very cheap. I think if I sat in it in person I would have picked another chair. Chair comfort is very unique to each individual so many people might find this a comfortable option. For $400+ I was expecting something better but it is certainly a better chair than the $200 ones available at office supply stores. I guess you have to spend like $1000 to get a very high quality chair which I was unwilling to pay.
