Check the proof of any alcohol that you are thinking of consuming. It runs from zero to 200 proof. It comes with a temperature adjusting chart depending on the temperature of the alcohol you are testing. Of course, when I said moonshine I meant the ones you can buy in a store with a tax stamp! I will point out if it has a tax stamp it is not moonshine but an advertising gimmick. But I never break the law

I thought it would be glass like my Brix I ordered, but this is plastic. Never paid close attention to the description I guess. I had selected plastic for the graduated cylinder, maybe that selected plastic for both.I have a refractometer, and this reads close to the same when it was calibrated with distilled water. I have yet to try the hydrometer with distilled water....
