We recommend you make sure the axle is a 8.5. In 1966 the Chevelle had a 10 bolt 8.2 rear axle stock. Best way to tell is your pinion spline to the yoke. If it is 25 spline you have the 8.2, if it is 30 spline you have the 8.5 and someone has changed it. Thank you
