So Far So Good
I have a swimming pool in Arizona. After 2 1/2 years I had a company bead blast the calcium deposit from the tile along the water line. The company applied some kind of grease-like product to the tile afterwards, which I think just covered up what was left of the calcium. Unfortunately, I found Tile Shield afterwards so I spent a couple of weeks removing the grease-like product, which revealed the leftover calcium. I applied Tile Shield to the tile per the directions on the container and it removed or perhaps covered up the leftover calcium. I put on three coats since it is supposed to build up a coating. It will be months before I know how well Tile Shield works but I’m hopeful. Bead blasting costs about $500 and the pool gets a new waterline ring within months. If Tile Shield works, I suspect I won’t need to bead blast again for years and the pool will look much better for a whole year. It dries quick and water just beads up on the treated tile. So far, I’d recommend it for pool tile. Update 6/22/25: Applied another coat in April 2025 after scraping with a single edge razor blade. By June there was a pretty good build-up, partly due to a solar cover that was on for about a month. What was different this time, scraping with a single edge razor, is that the build up more easily flaked off the tile. Overall, my pool tile looks pretty good this year. I’ll be applying more coats when it cools off in AZ this Fall.

Wrong item for grout. No returns.
Wrong product for my task. My primary goal was to seal the grout of the pool waterline tile. This produce will protect the face of the tiles but does nothing for the grout (Porus surfaces). Glazed vs. Porus was not found in the sales description. This was $90 and I cannot return it because it is a chemical with shipping restrictions. Though, somehow, they were able to ship it here to me (?). The product may be fine for designed application.

Great Product That Works
Great product that really protects the pool tile after I removed the calcium. Expensive but worth it. Easy to apply. After putting this on tile a month ago, still looks great!

Love the results with no visible water line on pool tiles.
Used on pool tiles. Once I cleaned and prepared the tiles (hard water ring was still visible) I applied the Tile Shield Sealer and Protectant. It was easy to apply with no need to polish. The hard water ring was no longer visible. It has only been a few days so I can’t verify if the ring will return but so far I am very happy with the results.

Great product! Use heavy duty gloves when applying!
Product works well on the pool times so far in AZ. Normally, calcium deposits would be visible in a week or two after refilling pool due to hard ground water. Put two coatings on with a sponge as applicator and it still looks pristine. Strongly advise use of thick rubber gloves as product does a number on skin. There is still a tad left for touch ups. Recommended the product to several people so far.
