I'm no expert on this stuff but it works well for me. I wanted to make sure my products were the highest quality I can offer at the moment and I feel like this really helped.

I finally got to check and use my bottle of phenoxyethanol I got a while ago. I analyzed it and it appears to be pure. It has very little smell and it is the typical smell of phenoxyethanol. It should be used in small amounts as a preservative in cosmetics. I notice one review where a reviewer mentioned that it is a synthetic copy of a natural product and made his/hers tongue and throat swell. I don't know whether the review appears here by mistake, but this product is synthetic. There is no such thing as a natural phenoxyethanol. Also, it is for external use only and in small amounts as a cosmetics preservative - no more than 1%. Do not attempt to ingest it! In fact, do not get the pure 100% phenoxyethanol on the skin. It could be irritating.

Time will tell how it worked but seems to mix well and hopefully it makes the homemade lotions last.

I did not think that you need some kind of preservative in creams. That could very well be why they go off after a while and start looking a little yellow in the jars. Not only does this Phenoxyethanol stabilize your product, but it helps retain moisture while improving the look of your skin. It is a decent price and you get a fair sized bottle so you can’t go wrong, especially when it is made in Germany. I would recommend this to anyone trying to make their own products.

I got this to preserve homemade creams and I think it will last a long time. Hasn’t. Even long enough yet to determine whether it works well, but my guess is that it’ll do just fine. Really, really well packaged upon arrival - glad they took the time to do this.

i make my own pain ointment and it can separate depending on what time of year it is. i keep the reserve in the fridge and take out some when i need it. i decided to melt the ointment down and add this phenoxyethanol additive to the reserve. so fqr the ointment is fairing the same but it is winter. so the ointment solidified. i use coconut oil so it warms up very easily and i can squirt it out to apply it. the warm weather is a different story. it has separated so i need to shake it up before i use it. with this additive i shouldnt have any troubles this year.
