Great kit, but careful on assembly!
Overall, this is a great kit if you occasionally need to crimp high pressure hoses. There is a great assortment of well-made dies to use. The head of the tool is extremely robust, and should stand up to far more punishment than the included pump can dole out. It's easy to open and close the jaws with a removable pin that's intelligently placed on a chain to keep from losing it. Also included was a set of pretty nice cutters for standard hose (won't work well on reinforced hoses) and a blow molded case to hold it all.I'm impressed by the beefy design of the crimper head. It's extremely thick and very nicely machined. Very few marks to indicate poor tooling or assembly. While most people won't need this, if you do anything with custom hoses this is a great value. I have personally paid more than this for a single set of custom AC hoses for a car. Having this kit means more control over those projects. This is a great tool for light duty, infrequent use. You have to pump it A LOT to crimp. If you're doing 10 or more hoses per day, get a powered unit. This will get annoying to use at that volume. That being said, if you just do occasional one off custom hoses or repairs (especially in the field), this is perfect.A couple small complaints...First, the collar to tighten the hose from the pump to the crimper head is knurled, suggesting that "hand tight" is good. It is not. In testing, I squirted oil everywhere. I checked all the fittings and that seemed to be the only one leaking. I had to use a pair of lockjaw pliers to get a good enough grip on the knurled fitting and a wrench on the next fitting up in order to tighten it fully. I had to tighten the lockjaw pliers enough to mar the surface of the fitting. Not bad, but after a while this will look fairly chowdered. I may just store it connected, but it won't fit in the blow molded case.Second, and this one is extremely minor, the pin that locks the jaws of the crimper is retained with an O ring instead of a ball detent. This should be fine, but those degrade and it will need to be periodically replaced or the pin will not stay put as you wrestle the head of the crimper around. This can be inconvenient at best, dangerous at worst. Fortunately it is a standard size o ring and if you're crimping anything this is capable of you should have several floating around.

Pays for itself on the first rupture
The cost to have hoses made for my tractor in a pinch is astronomical, so having this tool on hand has been a real game changer. It lets me handle crimping right there in the garage or out in the field without having to stop everything, clean up, and drive somewhere just to get a replacement made. I have already used it a few times and it has paid for itself quickly. The crimps come out clean and tight, and switching out the dies is simple enough even when working in tighter spots. The hydraulic pump works smoothly and gives solid pressure without needing a lot of force. It is not the lightest thing to carry around, but the convenience more than makes up for that. Being able to deal with hydraulic issues on the fly keeps projects moving and saves a lot of time and frustration. Glad I picked it up.

Great hose crimper
This is a great looking crimping tool has all of the sizing options that I think you could want to use. The crimping tool goes together smoothly, the only thing I dislike about it is that you have to disconnect the hydraulic press from the crimper to store the tool. All of the machining looks great should last forever.
