T**T
Comfortable for small (size 7 or less) hands
The rotating blade takes some getting used to, but the end result it wonderful once you do. Sharp? Of course. Able to use for long period without strain? You bet. Well worth the expense.

Comfortable and sharp
It was so nice to find a pruner that fits my small hands. The blades stay sharp for a long time. I am glad I purchased these. The Bahco website has a chart to determine what size to order. The next size up (medium) also fits my hands pretty well. There is not a great deal of difference in size between small and medium. The pruner was received promptly from vendor and arrived in perfect condition. Blades are protected well in a plastic cover.

Bahco hand pruners
Unbelievably wonderful hand pruners. So glad that I read reviews on numerous websites and decided to spend the few extra dollars to purchase these. They make pruning my tough muscadine vines a piece of cake. (I had gotten a very sore blister from several days of using my old pruners), and they have not left my side for spring touch up pruning of my ornamentals. A friend, who meant well, recently offered to buy me a pair of Felco hand pruners -- needless to say he is not in the running for boyfriend of the year.

Great for small hands
I had been brainwashed to believe that Felco was the brand to buy, it took a lot to consider another brand, especially at this price point. However, I read Genevieve's review at North Coast Gardening, and decided to try these out. I am so glad I did. My Bahco's are my new best friend. They have great ergonomic styling and the rotating lower handle makes pruning so much easier - I feel like the tool is working with my hand, not at odds with it. They are well made and use a coating on the blade that keeps them sharper than others.

Not a good experience
After starting off with a 5 star review, revised to 2 stars since they stopped working after 2 weeks of light use. The spring that someone else claimed was too strong evidently went missing, this after the lock jammed shut every time I used them and I had to use extra grease and injured my hands trying to get them open again. All in all, it's the worst experience I've had with any kind of garden shears, and I've owned lots over a period of 50 years.Disappointed is not a strong enough word.I'll try to order a spring and try to find someone to repair them because they were so expensive, but I'm tempted to just put them in the trash and forget about the whole thing. This was my big gardening treat of the year and I could have bought a lot of gorgeous plants for the price.

DANGEROUS to small hands.
This was purchased as a gift for a size 7 woman's hand (not atypically small). While at first it appears/feels nice and small (certainly a well made item), it contains an atypically strong spring mechanism AND a very wide grip when opened with that strong spring. So - imagine a nice small, well-made device that SRINGS! open so wide it hurts your hand. This would be experienced with every cut - it springs! open very wide and hurts your hand - imagine forcing your hand open further than is comfortable or safe, with the force of a very tight, strong spring (not a small bit of pressure). Also - THE SELLER'S PHONE NUMBER IS NOT A WORKING NUMBER!!!!!This item is defective - not as advertised, and I have 200 characters on an email to explain for their "approval" of a return??Hardly appropriate. CAVET EMPTOR.

Not for Small Pruning Jobs
The pruner was given to me as a present as "the ultimate" which did not come up to expectation. It started with Experience # 1: getting it out of the packaging with the pruner held to the cardboard tightly with a metal ring digging into the cardboard. E-mail correspondence with Bahco informed me to just remove the ring with a screw driver and small pliers (picture included). It needed bending the cardboard - mangling it - but was successful. Experience #2: It needed an enormous amount of pressure of the handles to open the blades using the black sliding button. Another e-mail correspondence with the company told me to loosen the nuts slightly. That did help but one better be cautious or the blades will separate. Experience # 3: That sliding black button is in my opinion a design flaw. It is so small and hard to slide, especially when wearing garden gloves, as one is apt to do when using pruners, and awkward when using the pruner for casually snipping here and there. It needs holding the pruner in one hand and moving the button with the other. At least that's what I find. It may be OK if one has an hour's worth or more of continuous pruning and keeps the blades open all that time. Experience # 4: Rotating handle. A bit disconcerting when taking the pruner out of its holster. I prefer fixed handles since I put the pruner frequently in and out of its holster. Experience # 5: Since the reviews of the Bahco holster were not that good, I bought a Corona holster - belt loops and clip - which holds the pruner nicely. Experience # 6: It does do a nice pruning job but nothing better than the other pruners I use. The smallness of the button to open and close the blades and the effort to move it to make sure the blades are closed is the major reason that I would not recommend the pruner for small pruning jobs.
