New chain works great
It’s for my older 12 speed bike. Old chain was worn and filthy. Old Shimano cassette (gears were broken and skipped somewhat). Also bought a cassette removal tool and new 6 gear cassette in the same order. Off with the old, with much difficulty-on with the new. No adjustments necessary to shift into all the gear’s smoothly. Works great. My repair book doesn’t recommend master links, so I bought a chain without any.

Absolute garbage - avoid at all costs!!
Avoid this garbage at all costs.Less than 2 months of use, and a bunch of link connections stiffened up so much so that the chain started skipping like crazy. Yes, I do use lube, in case you were wondering.Complete waste of money.

Solid quality for price!
Worked great and the sizing was just right for my x7 drivetrain. Would buy a spare in the future.

Works, but not exactly as it seems.
Given the sub-$7 price, this 7-speed chain may seem to be the cheapest deal on Amazon for a replacement Hyperglide-compatible chain. While the price may make it super tempting, there are some compelling reasons to avoid it as well.Let's look at the pros and cons:----PROS:- PRO #1: This manufacturer has managed to make a 7-speed chain that doesn't need a master link or a special chain pin; it uses beveled chain pins (like old Sedis chains) that elegantly slide into the adjoining chain plate. This is, of course, PROVIDED you have set your chain tool perfectly aligned, otherwise you'll destroy the plate. (This is undoubtedly why some of the reviewers here have had failures).- PRO #2: Both pins and plates seems to be plated surprisingly well. Better than most OEM spec on entry-level bike shop bikes. Whether this plating will hold up in the elements, well, that I've yet to see.CONS:- CON #1: I've done hundreds of bikes in the past, and 116 links is NOT enough for the average 26" entry-level ATB/MTB or hybrid - the typical "21/24-speed" triples with MegaRange. 116 is also too short for 700C hybrids with large single chainrings and slightly longer chainstays (such as Electra Lofts). In fact, not ONCE has any package of this chain been enough to finish a single derailer bike I've touched; some of which I've included here in the photos. The only bike I've done that required only a single package is a 1960's road bike with an internally geared hub conversion (picture #4).As such, almost every bike comes out to ~$10.49 to do (minus a bit for the 16%-off-for-2 deal), not $6.99. All of a sudden, the price deal is not as good as it seems - though, fair enough, any other 116L chain will also be subject to the two-package issue.- CON #2: It doesn't really shift well. In comparison to KMC, SRAM, or Shimano HG, this chain just doesn't pick up the Hyperglide tooth ramps nicely. Upshifts, even with a perfectly adjusted derailer, tend to be chattery or rough - even on the stand. Add a rider on the ground and what seems minor in the stand becomes instantly apparent. It seem as if the angled outer chain plates - probably done to circumvent Shimano's patents - appear to facilitate downshifts only. To the credit of this chain, the downshifts are smooth, but it doesn't make up for the rest.----I find it hard to recommend this chain when the good stuff is a few dollars more. Nevertheless, if you have to make every dollar count, this might work for you. Just be aware that you might need two of them to make ends meet - pun intended. Also make SURE you have a good chain tool and set it right. If you're ever so slightly off square on the receiving chain plate, you will crack the plate or shave off material when pushing the pin in. Take absolute care to get it right.
