Tilley Hat

Brought this for my teenage son’s Duke of Edinburgh hikes. I own many Tilley hats, all are great providing comfortable sun or rain protection and are great for long walks, the sweat band and grommets ensure your head never gets too hot and sweaty. The fit is loose but comfortable and the cords ensure the hat stays on in the wind. But the look is too old and formal for a teenager, this is where the Wanderer comes in, all the above Tilley qualities but in a more modern package,black grommets, leather patch label, pre washed for softness. Showerproof as well as sun protection, wide brim that can be snapped up for hood, phone use or map reading and very soft so can be shoved into rucksack. All I all very impressed, great hat he will weR and know great protection. Highly recommended, expensive but will last a lifetime, I regularly wear my Tilley from 20 years ago.

I love this hat already! It fits perfectly, its fantastic quality and the colour is great! I took the lace out of it, as I found it a little uncomfortable but I've kept it in the hat pocket so that I can rethread it if its windy out. Aside from that super comfortable and I think it looks great! Nice to finally have a hat that I feel comfortable and confident in!

Perfect hat for outdoor & walking use. Looks great, built great. What else to say! (In French only on the label it says 'Handmade in Canada', in English it doesn't and the other little label says Designed in Canada, Made in China, but the quality is still superb.)

Tilley quality. Comfortable, effective at keeping sun and rain out of my eyes, stays on in a stiff breeze. Attractive, worn in, country walk look, not smart, but, to my surprise, drew compliments from other walkers! Sometimes I wear it with a decorative cotton scarf tied around the crown just for fun.

I went through a fair few purchases of this hat until I found the perfect size. One of the great things about buying from amazon is the ease of returning and buying again! Just come back from 2 weeks in Thailand and this hat performed amazing. It did a great job of keeping the sun off my head and thanks to the straps it stayed in place in windy weather or on fast boat trips. The storage compartment is great for keeping cash and room keys with you at all times and the combination of straps, floatability and waterproofing meant I was happy to wear it in the sea and pool. It never felt hot on my head despite the heat being high 30's

I've always associated Tilley hats with older people in the outdoors, and I've now joined the club! This version is like heavy canvas. It folds well to squeeze into packs, and it seems very durable. It's rough and ready, which appeals to me compared to the 'smarter' Tilley hats. I reckon I could water proof it too as it's cotton. The 'string' system inside if a faff, and for a means to help it blowing off I think Tiley need to go back to the design board. I've modified mine with a plastic draw-cord buckle - works much better.
