This pen is very fine ball point but it writes very smoothly. The textured grip on the pen is very subtle but gives that little bit extra grip on the pen. When writing on a single piece of paper on a hard surface it glides on the paper very smoothly. When writing very fast or scratching something out it is able to keep up with the speed and put down the ink where you want it. It says it's the oily type of ink, but I did not find it to be oily and it does not smear unless you really rub hard as soon as you finished writing then it will smear but you really need to be trying.

Originally purchased these pens for looks as I wanted one uniform color on my desk that were on display but ended up using them and can honestly say I love the way they write (and i’m pretty picky with pens). They write smoothly and don’t smudge. These are excellent if you prefer ballpoint pens.

These pens are very comfortable to write with and leave a solid and opaque black mark on the paper. Not too fine, and not too thick, the line is elegant and the contrast on the page is high, and easily read.
