Brilliant
Having purchased Toe by Toe by the same author I knew this would be a worthwhile purchase and I haven't been proved wrong. It takes a little time to work out the correct way in which to use this book as initially you feel as if you're going back and fore continuously but once you get going it all falls in-to place. My daughters reading/spelling/comprehension age improved dramatically (3 yrs increase in one school year) and the school are happy too as she goes up to the comprehensive as a +4 improvement ( +2 is average )

An effective resource for reading accuracy and comprehension
As a dyslexia teacher I find that this book provides next step activities for pupils with reading accuracy and comprehension difficulties. The method for chunking polysyllabic words is simple and effective. Students enjoy timing themselves - the use of a digital recorder also enables them to work independently. I think it would also be a good way for reluctant readers to improve their skills at home, linked to school rewards if appropriate.I've already recommended it to some of my schools.

Well recommended
Went on a course to learn ‘all things Cowling’ once I’d packed in teaching and started tutoring. Very good resources indeed, in my opinion; I use them every week and have had strong results.

Stride Ahead: An Aid to Comprehension Keda Cowling
An excellent book for children who have been slow to read. It enhances reading fluency and teaches a child to break words into syllables and become familiar with patterns in words. It means that more focus can be given to their comprehension skills.

Recommended book
This was recommended to us by our reading teacher. It has lots of little challenges in it regarding speed accuracy and comprehension of reading. Looks and seems good. Time wil tell how effective it is!

Works for reading Comprehension
This book first teaches the student how to break up large words to sound them out, then later how to use these skills to read larger passages. It also gives the student tools to comprehend a long passage of reading. This is a good book of your student can read words but not comprehend the meaning of the sentence.
