Large plate, tons of poweful steam. I'd definitely buy it again and have recommended it to friends.One star off because the cord real does not work well at all. Nonetheless, it irons so well I'll put up with the aggravation.

Pictures do not do this iron justice. This is a professional-grade heavy-duty machine from a famous brand that has been around forever. Feels solid and screams very well made. All the buttons and switches are tight. The cord wrap is not flimsy. I can't imagine wanting to buy an $80-dollar iron if this one is available. This is a very hot iron, so you will not want to drop it on carpeted floor.

The Sunbeam Turbo 1700 Watt Steam Iron with Ceramic Soleplate and retractable cord was purchased during June of 2021 for the price of $24.71 plus tax. It's now available for $38.05 plus tax (December 2, 2024).Although I'm not entirely certain I would make the same purchase at the current price, as a person who irons before going out each day; this iron was certainly up to the task. However, I cannot attest to the overall durability of this product as there was an issue with the voltage regulation in the dwelling in which the product was used. Eventually, as a result of that voltage regulation problem, the iron became inoperable.Nonetheless, it is my opinion that this iron would still be functioning as it was designed if the voltage regulation issue had not severely truncated its longevity. Until the eventual product failure took place, it functioned as required each and every day of a 7 day week for more than a year.It should be stated that this product was not the only electrical appliance that failed under the aforementioned circumstances. So, given a situation in which there was no faulty voltage delivery, I would conjecture that this product would still be functioning as desired.Unfortunately, I do not think I would purchase this item at the current price, however!

The warranty is not a 3 year warranty as stated on Amazon. It’s 1 year. And good luck with that anyway.First the steam function stopped working, but the “steam shot” button still worked. After using the steam shot function more frequently, the button pushed fully into the machine and obviously no longer worked. I didn’t want to risk any kind of water leakage with an electrical appliance so I couldn’t even use it for regular ironing.This was at 11 months of use. I didn’t have time to contact the company until about 13 months after purchase but I thought I had a 3 year warranty anyway. After contacting them and finding out it’s actually a one year warranty and that I submitted my claim after the 1 year window had closed (by one month, ugh), I was left with a piece of junk. I hate how wasteful this is. I thought I was getting something that was going to last at least 3 years. Their customer service was completely unhelpful and offered no solution after having me fill out forms and submit photos.I switched to an older iron from my grandma that’s from the 90’s and that thing hasn’t let me down in the 3 years I’ve been using it.Aside from that I found this Sunbeam iron too lightweight to get a good press, and it also didn’t get very hot so was useless when ironing cotton. The retractable cord was nice though, I guess.

Excellent fast heating. Only wish cord was retractable. Hard to see daily settings. Place a dot on indicator mark with a sharpie.

Man, I thought I did my research for this purchase. This iron seemed to tick all the boxes. Now that I've got it, however, I'm not happy with it. Not unhappy enough to return it -- it does do the minimum job -- but not happy.I have five main complaints. First, it's big and heavy. My arm was tired after ironing three shirts. The water reservoir is huge, which sounds like a good thing -- you don't have to refill it as often. However, the water makes the iron even heavier. And the iron itself is so big that I kept accidentally knocking it into the wall (about six inches behind the ironing board).Second, it doesn't glide. There's significant friction between the soleplate and the fabric. If I move the iron left and right, the ironing board rocks back and forth! This means that, if you aren't careful, the iron will create wrinkles instead of removing them. And it further tires out your arm. I thought nonstick soleplates were a thing?Third, it's hard the temperature dial is directly under the handle and thus hard to turn. And it has to be turned rather far to change heat levels.Fourth, the cord can get in the way of setting the iron down vertically. It's attached to the iron via a ball joint, which, in theory, should allow it to roll up out of the way, but it doesn't always work.Fifth, the instruction manual is terrible. Parts have one name in the diagram, but a different name in the text; icons on the iron itself are different from the icons in the text. Most of the manual is devoted either to not getting sued or to telling you how to iron, as opposed to how to actually use this particular iron.All I have to compare this to is my previous iron, a cheap, basic Black & Decker steam iron that I used for -- I dunno, maybe 30 years? I was forced to replace it because it stopped steaming. Otherwise, however, it had all of the same features, and it was easier to use.
