Basic Ethernet Cable Tester
For a home network where you are careful with terminations, this may be all you need. This tester only tests connection continuity, not quality...If your network has PoE ports, find a tester that's compatible with that.

Basic, inexpensive RJ-11 and RJ-45 cable tester.
No frills, feature light, inexpensive network cable tester. LEDs light up in sequence 1-8 and ground (if applicable) on the master and remote units. If your cables are cross wired, it is evident as the lights light up out of sequence and if you have a short circuit the light won’t light at all.

Not useful tool
No instructions to indicate what the mode switch does or how to use it. Labeling coming off and on Amazon misspelled. Also the case and tester has such an awful smell it can’t be left in the house. Even stinks up my garage. Will be returning. Cannot recommend this.
