Great book looking forward to reading

I was given this book as a kid. I bought one for my daughter, Hence I've just bought this for my granddaughter.. the illustration is obviously better than in my day but the character of the book remains the same .. My granddaughter who is a very "modern" six years of age tells me she loves it. Sometimes kids love the old stuff too

I bought it for myself because I have always loved the musical Cats. I shall enjoy reading the complete poem

Interesting, if a bit weird. A bit of anthropomorphic going on in the author's behead, I feel. What about you ?

This book was excellent, bought for a ten year old but also suitable for ages 4-12. Print was a good size and illustrations also excellent.

The book arrived very quickly which was great because I wanted to read the poems again before going to the musical currently on tour. In this edition, these fun poems are so beautifully illustrated, that they make me look forward to the show even more. Whilst I am sure the book was aimed at youngsters, I have to confess that I am in my late fifties and I thought it was absolutely wonderful. A must for so many persons: cat lovers, poetry lovers, those who enjoy the musical and those who are both young in years and young at heart!

The fact that this man can write the modernist masterpiece 'The Waste Land' and can turn his ideas to... cats???? Mind-blowing! I'm eighteen years old, and should know better when it comes to buying poetry for children. Despite this, it takes someone older to understand the eccentric brilliance of this darling little book. I lost my copy once, and I panicked like there was no tomorrow. This book means so much to me, and never fails to make me smile. I look at cats in an entirely different way. You've read of several kinds of Cat, And my opinion now is that You should need no interpreter To understand their character. We do need an interpreter, his name is T.S.Eliot. It is thanks to him, we know how to appropriately name cats and how to address their kind- which of course is, "don't speak until you're spoken to"

This charming collection of poems about cats is a classic everyone should have in their library. If you have seen the musical Cats that it based on this book or if you simply love cats - this is a must have. The drawings by Edward Gorey are magical & a perfect fit. Although written for his godchildren, it is a clever & humorous read for all ages. I feel it would be a hard heart indeed that wouldn't be touched by reading this. I read it before seeing Cats with my niece & found it enchanting. It also made the musical even more enjoyable than the first time I saw it without having read this. I have since bought this book as a present to my niece & of course, she loves it. A definite must have.

Old Possum Book of Practical Cats by TS Eliot is a well produced book. An utter delight to read the poems aloud in a group. This was one of my child hood favourites but lost it over time. Now I want to keep it with me to make me smile at all times. Kids loved it too
