Sleepaway Camp - Collector's Edition [Blu-ray]

With one of the most shocking endings in horror movie history, this is a must own for any true horror fan. The HD Picture Quality is pretty decent. Scream Factory has done a decent job on this release. A great add to my collection.

One of the best classic slasher flicks. Filled with chills and thrills. Great acting by the young cast. It is a believable element that the young actors actually are about the age of the characters they portray, unlike so many other « camp » films. The background music is most appropriate and accentuates the chilling moments, sometimes causing me to jump in my seat. The director has brought out the best in his actors, giving them an authenticity that contributes to the believability of the sometimes unbelievable events. The theme of bullying is handled with some dramatic undertones. Though the bullies in this film meet their maker in disturbing terms, in real life they do not. As brutal as their deaths may be, we understand the horrors of bullying. The ending of the film is a surprise and a shocker and at that moment, everything falls into place and we come to an understanding of all the events that preceded. The extras are great too, especially the « Making of » with interviews by the cast and crew. Great film to watch on a misty Halloween night. Or on a stormy night! Highly recommended!

This is easily one of my favorite 80s horror movies, as it has a fun 80s feel, off the rails moments, some cool kills & effects, and a wild end sequence. The movie might seem like a by the number slasher, but Sleepaway Camp has enough strange elements to make it not so run of the mill. The bizarre behavior of the aunt is a personal favorite of mine, with her fantastic performance that simply boggles the mind. There is a just a mean spirited tone to Sleepaway Camp that adds so much, like sharp, cruel dialogue and the catty performances of some of the girls. The movie also has some typical teens at camp cliches, which make the horror segments more immersive. Felissa Rose’s mostly mute performance is eerie, especially with her massive eyes burning a hole right through your soul. I know Sleepaway Camp is often referenced only for the twist at the close, but this is a very fun, well made horror movie overall. Went years being told that this was a great movie. No...it's not. It's kind of boring. Maybe if I watch past the 10 or 15 minutes that I managed to slog through, it will get better....I hope.

Camp fun!

This movie is what it is. An early cash in attempt on the camp slasher genre. Better than most, as it starred actual kids playing the kids. Bought it so my wife who was raised in another country could see what I was talking about. We enjoyed it, but not likely to rewatch it many times. An essential piece of the history of the genre, but fully represents most of the shortcomings of the early attempts. If the end hasn't been spoiled for you, don't let anyone ruin it. First viewing with innocent eyes is an experience not to be missed for the burgeoning genre fan.

Cheesy horror movie with a mind blowing twist. Cousins going to summer camp together but one has a crazy dark secret, that gets her into creepy scenarios which boy cousin saves her till the end.

I'm in my mid-40's and this is the first time seeing this. Why? Why did I not know this movie existed before today? I feel robbed. I feel that had I watched this movie when it was fresh, that it would have enhanced my youth; nay, the whole of my life. Why? Look at me now!

les années 80 ont vu naitre beaucoup de films d'horreurs cultes:les vendredi 13,freddy,reanimator,evil dead,ect...Ces films sont adulés par les fans du genre qui ont souvent connus des suites!! Mais un petit film a vu le jour en 83:SLEEPAWAY CAMP!! Ce n'est pas le plus connu mais alors ce slasher qui a premiére vue ne paye pas de mine,a effrayé toute une génération de jeune dont je fais parti car si la trame est classique:une bande de campeur se font massacrer les uns aprés les autres par un psychopathe,c'est le final intense,terrifiant et choquant à souhait qui fait la différence!!On en sort secoué et bouleversé!! Maintenand que j'ai grandi bien sur je suis moins effrayé qu'avant mais il fait encore son petit effet et je ne peux que conseiller aux fans de films d'horreurs de se le procurer d'urgence!! Le hic c'est qu'il n'existe pas en version française,c'est une honte!!

Great package, excellent audio and video quality and supplements. The movie’s not for everyone, but if you’re a fan, this is a great set.

Esta película pudiera ser un Slasher más, sino fuera por su final tan chocante a la vista y agresivo a nivel psicológico; además de los subtextos de gerontofilia, pedofilia y traumas infantiles. Producción modesta y que no es tan sangrienta como otras cintas del subgénero, pero que cumple con todas sus reglas para hacerla entretenida. Scream Factory distribuye haciendo una gran mejora en la calidad de imagen y sonido, a parte su presentación física es de cubierta reversible y agrega material adicional como un documental con entrevistas de aprox. 45 mins., trailers de cine, audio comentarios y un segmento dedicado al escaneo en 2k de la película por parte de Technicolor. Lo único malo de esta distribuidora es que no hay más idiomas y subtítulos que el inglés y el material adicional no esta subtitulado. Esta es muy buena edición para los fans de la película o del subgénero Slasher.
