Excellent RAM; great price
I have an old but extremely functional Dell Dimension 4550 that now has new life. After upgrading the BIOS to AO8 I ordered the PNY Optima 2GB (2x1GB) modules from Amazon which I received in a few business days. Amazon's new easy packaging initiative is a welcome process. The box was just the right size, afforded proper protection and was easy to open. Insertion of the RAM into my PC was quick and very straightforward. After closing the case I powered up the system and the RAM was instantly recognized and performed flawlessly. System Info and Belarc Advisor both testified to the full 2048kb of RAM. The newest version of Turbo Tax, which somewhat overwhelmed the previous 1GB (2x512MB) modules, now performs smoothly with the additional RAM. My only complaint is the vendor packaging. The RAM is well protected but, as with most electronics these days, the only way to open the plastic is to cut it open with scissors or utility knife. In addition to the added difficulty, the possibility of damaging the RAM while cutting it open creates considerable angst. All in all however, the PNY RAM filled the bill. Highly recommended.

Solid Quality
I bought this two pack to upgrade from the two over-clocked 256 sticks that I had in my computer. I just plugged these into the other two slots I had available and the auto detection program did the rest. I am now running 3G of RAM. It has certainly made a difference for running multiple programs and seems to have made web browsing a bit faster as well. I have an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and these plugged right in. This is a great buy for upgrading your older computer or building up your new one.

EXCELLENT
Ordered the dual 1GB cards a few days ago. Product arrived a week ahead of estimated time. Now, I have a 10 year old Sony VGC-RB30 computer and it had 512mb worth of memory. So, me not really knowing anything about the internal workings of computers, I took out the dual 256mb cards that were in the pooter, and put these new cards in. Put everything back together, pooter did not work. So, I figured ok, there a 4 slots in my pooter, I will put the two old ones back in along with the two new ones. Turned the pooter on and everything works fine. My RAM Cleaner now says I have 2047 mb worth of memory, WOOHOO. Started browsing and noticed everything was much faster. So, I decided to do a true test. On youtube, I have never been able to watch HD videos, ones with 720p speed, as my pooter would start and stop with those videos because it could not load the video fast enough, or just play anything with that much quality. Well, it does now, and with no stops at all. I will say what many others have said, I should have bought this memory upgrade a long time ago. Cards are very easy to install, and it makes SO much difference. It's like I have a new toy now to pway with, LOL. And to think, I was ready to throw this computer out the window. For $35, my pooter is now better than new.

Made A Noticeable Difference
I own a six year old eMachines 6410 with Windows XP. After a household youth downloaded several programs, videos, and music files, the system crashed. I removed most of the downloaded programs, transferred the document/music/video/picture files to an external drive, cleaned the registry, searched/removed malware, then defragmented the hard disk. The system performed but it was slow. With a few windows open (Internet, MS Word, file search, messaging) the windows required repeated mouse clicks and patience to change/exit. The windows would scroll fom top to bottom to close. This system had 384 MB of RAM. I ordered the PNY Optima and the difference is notable, not just to me but to others in the household who were complaining about the slowness of the system. Windows just blink to close and almost pop when opened. It was really worth it for a student who is trying to multitask. Installation was easy. Open the case and install. Follow the instructions. It took less than 10 minutes. Be sure that your computer has been optimized for speed with system cleanup and maintenance first. If there is still the need for speed, more RAM might do it for you. Ensure that this type of RAM is compatible with your machine. There are plenty of site on the Web where you can find out.

Faster than you think (in the right setting)!
I have been using this RAM in multiple systems for almost a year and have been very impressed with its speed and stability. Remember that its speed will be limited by your frontside bus speed, so in older Pentium 4 systems that run at 400 or 533 MHz, this will be limited to 200-333 MHz DDR. However, if you have an 800 MHz FSB system, these sticks are a great choice. And if you are clocking your FSB manually, they're even better! Those interested in overclocking potential should see my similarly titled review over at the golden egg for details on reachable clock speeds, but I achieved better than DDR 433 speeds with these without any modification or voltage increase, 24/7 stable. For those who are not overclocking, it means that these are stable and well made, and should provide years of error-free operation at their rated speed. DDR isn't cheap per MB relative to newer DDR2 and 3, so value is important, and these are a great value!

Great Performance for Dimension 4600 at Great Value!
Hello All, I received the two (2) DIMMs in great shape -- they were packed very well with the 1TB hard drive they shipped with. Shut down the Dell Dimension 4600 and removed the 1GB total DIMMs (1x512MB, 2x256MB) that we had been running on for several years. Installed the (new) 2x1GB DIMMs in Channel A, and the (old) 2x256MB DIMMS in Channel B for a total of 2.5GB of main memory. Booted up the PC (BIOS was updated a few years ago to the most current) and all DIMMs were recognized (WinXP states "2.50 GB of RAM") without any issues whatsoever. Began using the PC for decrypting and imaging DVDs for backup purposes while browsing several web sites simultaneously. What a difference the additional 1.5 GB makes! Task Manager's Page File usage dropped SIGNIFICANTLY which is great because our old 80 GB IDE hard drive isn't that fast, so the more apps that stay in main memory (instead of being paged out to the hard drive to make room for (an)other app(s)), the faster the PC's performance. Will save to buy two (2) more of the same DIMMs for the same PC and/or to upgrade an even older Dimension 2400 (running on 768 MB of RAM right now). Good luck!

My old Dell Dimension P4 feels new again- HUGE improvement!
I have a 7 year old Dell Dimension 8300 P4 desktop running Win XP3. I had never upgraded the original 512mb of memory. It was running SLOW. With all of the new Windows updates, the massive resources used by Norton and other various programs, I could only have one application open at a time. As I type this now, I have Chrome open, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office Picture Manager, a Netflix streaming, and Itunes. Yup... HUGE difference. This computer seriously feels new again. As I read reviews, I kept looking for people to put up a review that gave me an idea of what they were running on their system so that I could have an idea of what effect a memory upgrade would do to mine. So, this reviews aims to accomplish that. I bought 2x 1gb sticks (total upgrade of 2gb - system now has 2.5gb. Make sure you put these sticks in the correct slots (at least for the Dell system)as they are not in numerical order on the motherboard. The price was less than other highly reviewed Memory, but don't let the price fool you... this is good quality memory. I've used PNY in my laptop upgrade as well (about a year ago) and it's still performing like a champ.
