Philips EcoMoods 30185/31/16 Up and Down Wall Light (White)

Heavy, chunky lights with a quality feel and appearance. Not particularly bright, although not dim either - but maybe more for accent / mood lighting. I have 2 in a bathroom (well away from water, showers etc as they are not IP44 rated.) They come on instantly and don't stutter into life like old fluorescents. 2 or 3 things to mention: not like in the picture, you can see the bulb mount at one end of the lamp, or 'lumiere' as Philips like to call them. So there is a bit of a shadow. I thought maybe our electrician had installed them upside down, but they look the same from the other direction. I only noticed this because I asked for them to be installed pretty high on a wall. If at eye level-ish, would not be a problem. The white frosted inserts are plastic, not glass. They are the same, top and bottom, and can be interchanged - one has a PHILIPS logo printed on it, so maybe put that one at the top so that it can't easily be seen. It's facing the wrong way, anyway! Not so obvious is that there is a matching ceiling light that doesn't immediately show up on the Amazon website: Philips Ecomoods 334221116 Ceiling Light 1 x 36 W 230 V Chrome.

Very nice modern wall lights (lets face it you're not going to put it on the ceiling). Great soft light (but not too soft) from these fittings. I have them as bedside lights and they are great to watch TV by at night. Everything about them is well made. I know they are not listed as 'dimmable' but hear me out. You may see these fittings listed on the web as dimmable, and the bulbs they come with say they ARE dimmable but as a package they are NOT. I bought these lights with the intention to dim them, as I had read on Phillips website, only to be very disappointed to find that my expensive dimmer controller just left the flashing. Also the sellers packaging and service was very good.

Great mood lighting and easy to install, but if you want a bright powerful light for reading, playing games e.t.c then this product is not for you. It only gives a very warm dull light which lights up the wall more than anything else. Great for your electricity bill though as uses very little energy

When I originally had my kitchen done I spent £80 each on 3 wall lights (via Amazon marketplace), one of which went faulty and now all have been condemned as "lethal". This meant I needed 3 replacements and was a bit limited as I wanted them to be a similar size and shape and still chrome (either brushed or shiny). These are a couple of inches shorter - but they'll do. I've just had them installed and were told they were fiddly - possibly because the guy was working with wiring from the previous lights. Also only one of the 3 had an earth wire. I had kind of expected this as, when checking out what to replace my dangerous lighting with, I'd read that most wall lights are earthed to the back plate (?). But why is there a difference in the 3? Different stock?? They come with a bulb each but 1 had it's end smashed off. I've ordered a replacement and 3 spares and asked Amazon if I qualify for a credit (you don't get, if you don't ask). Bulbs are £2.68 each at the moment (before you think I'm a cheapskate - I had expected them to be twice that price, when I posed the question). I am delighted with my Ecomoods wall light. I have it mounted in my hallway tucked behind an arch and love the soft light it gives off. It is perfect for leaving on during the evenings/night to light up the hallway suficiently and economically. Everyone who has seen it thinks it looks great.

Nice contruction and a good design. Just what I wanted to my wall. It has a low consuption of energy and the light is very smooth.

Smaller than I imagined which is better ... They are v good quality and give off a nice dispersed warm light. Easy to install too. The light has a quality feel all round. Very happy!

classy looks expensive not a cheep plastic is heavy so needs to be fixed firmly good soft lighting for any living-room.
