Rothco3-in-1 Spec Ops Soft Shell Jacket - Ultimate Weather Defense with Removable Fleece Liner

Last month, I was looking for a tactical, military-like, jacket for the cold months. I did some searching for various brands, such as Northface and 5.11. Those brands did quite have what I was looking for in terms of style, as well, as the price. I stumbled upon a video on YouTube of the Rothco 3-in-1 Spec Ops Soft Shell jacket and I was sold. I clicked on the attachment, read about the features, saw the price and made the purchase.OUTER SHELL: The jacket is called a 3-in-1 jacket because it serves, as a jacket/coat, raincoat, and a fleece. The jacket is suited for three seasons (Spring, Summer & Fall). Upon receiving this jacket, I noticed the heavy weight. I tried the jacket on and noticed how stylish it and comfortable it was. I was very impressed. I would say the jacket is true-to-size. In other words, I have an XL, as I am 5’8” 195 lbs. That should give a person an idea of how it fits. The outer shell the jacket is made of 100% polyester. The way the outer shell of this jacket handles water is very impressive. Recently, I walked around, during a heavy downpour. The water, continuously, beaded on the jacket and dispersed, rather quickly. In a nutshell, the outer shell of jacket has a Rain X-like effect on water. The outer shell has a total of seven, zippered pockets with paracords. Each, zips and unzips, freely, without jamming. Plus, there is two ventilation, zippered pockets (non-storage) under each arm. On the right side of the jacket, there is a zippered pocket on the upper-right sleeve, which has a rubbered, wire pass-through for headphones on the inside. Of course, there is a zippered pocket, which is located at the same location on the left side of the jacket. The next pocket is located on the right side, which is a deep pocket, which has a mesh D-Ring for keys and a rubbered and also, a wire pass-through. Of course, this same pocket is on the left side of the jacket.Unlike most jackets, both of these pockets are not located on the lower part of the jacket, near the abdomen. They are located further up for access to the pocket, if wearing a backpack or a vest. Also, there is one, small zippered pocket on the left side, closer to the wrist. Lastly, there is a two-way, zippered pocket, located at the bottom-rear of the jacket, which can be used as a storage of a hat or place for the detachable hood, which is included on the jacket. The jacket has two, 4” x 4” patch panels on each sleeve of the jacket, which can be used to put unit patches or morale patches. The each cuff has a loop strip, which has hooked attachment straps. There is a bit of a bulge on the collar of the jacket, which is due to the detachable hood being stored there. The hood has a brim to keep water away from the face and has an adjustable, paracord pull, directly to the rear.FLEECE: The fleece part of the jacket is attached to the outer shell of the jacket via zippers, which is the length of the jacket on both sides. There is an additional attachment on the collar and on the inside sleeve, which is secured by buttoned loops. The fleece has a total of four pockets. Two, are zippered pockets, which are located at the bottom of each side. In addition, the other two pockets are deep, opened meshed pockets. The combination of the fleece and the outer shell, makes this jacket, extremely warm in cold weather.VERDICT: The Rothco 3-in-1 Spec Ops Soft Shell Jacket is a good buy. You get a big, comfortable, roomy (storage), water repellent, and an overall, versatile jacket for a good price. With all of those features, there are many other jackets, which do not offer this kinda package for the price.

Great coat, especially for the price. Fits true to size in both configurations, really smart features and pocket placements. Can't be beat for the price and kept me very warm (only had it out to -15C so far but was very toasty). Durable and solid construction. Super quick shipping. Very satisfied.

Does not run true to size! SMALL

Great jacket for the price. Runs a bit small. The poly pro sleeves are approx five inches longer than the shell. They could work as backup gloves. Not sure if this was intentional or a design flaw. Very pleased all in all. Heavy duty, well made, and flexible.

I love the coat. It’s comfortable in high 30s low 40s. The two layers work well separately and come apart and together easily. The fleece has big wide open cuffs around the wrist. The shell has a hook and loop cuff that can snug up to the wrist very well. The pockets are deep mesh on the inside. Good for holding gloves or light weight cold weather gear.If you’re looking for conceal carry pockets, this ain’t the coat. But it is a pretty durable and effective coat.The fit of the XXL is perfect for me. I can wear a sweater under and still move. But I haven’t found a lot of need to do that. It fits perfectly with a t-shirt. No excessive bagging and not tight.

Great jacket. I expected it to be a little warmer than it is but it’s a solid jacket

This is a wonderful jacket. The warmth and looks are top notch. I'm 6 foot 1 and 220 pounds and the 2X I ordered was so close to a good fit but I just had to go with the 3X to be safe. Perfect. Army Universe was so good on taking the coat back and exchanging it with no problems. I've owned a couple of Rothco flight jackets and have always liked their quality. I just couldn't go wrong with the Rothco 3-in-1 Spec Ops Soft Shell Jacket.

Perfect jacket for cold weather. Little lighter then military issued coyote brown jacket but works.
