The DriveSmart 4K HD is the UK's first Ultra HD 4K in-car dash camera offering the ultimate in high resolution video capture. The DriveSmart 4K HD is a small discreet unit which mounts directly and securely onto your windscreen using the advanced twist-lock windscreen mounting bracket. You can mount it behind or close to your rear-view mirror if you need to keep it out of the way. The wide 150 degree viewing angle ensures you capture everything in front of your vehicle and more! It can cover both sides of the road and even the pavement, again meaning you should get evidence if an incident arises. The unit has a built-in G-Sensor which will react to different levels of movement depending on the sensitivity level set by the user. This means should a major event such as a crash or large movement of your vehicle occur, the DriveSmart 4K HD will save and lock the recording so it can be used for evidence and not destroyed accidentally. The in-built GPS can track your vehicle's movements and speed and display these on the viewing software included in the box. The unit's Wi-Fi option also allows videos to be downloaded directly to your smart phone using a separate App available from the App Stores. What's in the box? DriveSmart 4K HD Dash Camera Advanced Twist n Lock Windscreen Mounting Bracket In-Car Cigar Power Lead USB Data Transfer Cable Please note this item requires a Class 10 SD card to work.

Requires micro SD card
The description says “Please note this item requires a Class 10 SD card to work.” - be aware it needs a MICRO SD CARD, not just an SD card. I haven’t tried the device yet since I ordered the wrong type of card.

... a lot of time trying to find a really good car dash cam and this is the best one
I spent a lot of time trying to find a really good car dash cam and this is the best one. Standard HD cameras will pick up an incident but don't have the resolution to pick up the detail of a number plate, as after all full HD 1980x1080=2Mp picture. This has 4K video which takes a picture at 6Mp, three times the resolution. The playback is superb with no problem picking up the detail of a car number plate at speed. I like the fact that the video gets stamped with the time, full lat & long co-ordinates and speed. It also record the sound. This means you don't need another bit of software to review the footage. My only criticism is related to the as supplied micro SD card. It's only 16Gb. 5 minutes of 4K video takes up 1Gb, i.e. you only get up to 16 snippets of your journey. I invested in a 64Gb 100Mbs Sandisk card for £25 from Amazon to finish the install off. It's now setup and and forgotten about until I hopefully never need to use the camera in anger. It does come with both a cigar lighter cable and a hard wire cable. That isn't made clear in the listing. Overall, a really great product.

Absolutely great. It works with my 128GB Samsung Micro SDXC card. It did not recognise my 256GB card though. Pic shows it will handle 128 GB SDXC and of course smaller card

Wrong description - not 4K
Yet another misleading description, this device is neither 4K or 2160p as the resolution is only 2880x2160 rather 3840x2160

Good Camera, spoiled by poor software.
Good camera. Easy to install and comes with hard wiring kit if you want to go down that route. The recorded images are clear enough to read other vehicle number plates and the sound recording is good too. My only gripe is that there is no ‘official’ software to view the videos and show telemetry or GPS data. The ones I have found don’t work smoothly or won’t show maps. Compare this with the dedicated software that comes with a Nextbase camera and you’ll understand what I mean.

Nearly but not quiet
The camera appears well built and the menus easy to navigate. Popping a new Scandisk V10 micro SD card in and the camera failed to see the card and kept asking me to insert one. Okay it was a 128gb one and the max supported is 64gb. I had read one of the reviews which said it accepted a 128gb card and believed the reviewer, although in the item description it "clearly says" 64gb. The next thing was the speed of the card. This is a 4K camera and anything less than an "extreme" Scandisk simply wont work. I had to nip down to Halfords to get an "extreme" card. Popped it in...perfect all Okay! I recorded my trip home then looked in the "instruction book" for a website to download a "player". Okay no player mentioned. I looked at the reviews on Amazon and someone says "Dash Cam Viewer". Unless you want to purchase this viewer, forget it!! Luckily, my old dash cam was a MiVue, which originally came with viewer software included. Popped the files into this and all was well. I had a "viewer" that worked. There is an issue with the "G Sensor" and "Map Facility" not working with the Dash Cam in MiVue, but hey at least I've got an editor. Downloaded the App and yes the App works well. It's these little things that let this cam down as the price is almost that of the Nextbase, which is considered as the market leader. I appreciate the Nextbase is not 4K but lets be honest here this camera, recording at 4K, is only recording at 24 frames per second so drop down the resolution to 3648 x 2736 for Full HD at 30FPS. The built in battery doesn't last long, even when fully charged. Try downloading a file or two to your phone and you will have to switch the ignition on to keep things "flowing". All this said my initial opinion is the quality is good. Have to do a night trip yet, as this is the real test of the sensor. Anyway 4 stars as the instructions and viewer need to be addressed as the competition is fierce!
