This book is a game changer, a cheat code for all sprinting coaches at every level.
I purchased this book for tips on time management coaching at the high school level. All of my coaching experience had been with college athletes, spending hours talking and going over technique with athletes wasn’t abnormal. When I started working with high school athletes, I found it challenging to condense the work I felt they needed into a two-hour window. (20 to 30 athletes at all levels) My athletes were happy they were getting the attention they needed to get better, but my head coach was not…lol after apologizing a couple of times I knew I had to find some better time management tools it was understood I had to make some changes. I read some good reviews and watched a good debate on YouTube with Coach Banta (author Sprinters compendium) and Tony Holler (Feed the Cats). I was sold after the debate that I needed to purchase sprinters compendium. This book has and continues to be an absolute game changer. It’s an encyclopedia for sprint coaches’ knowledge. I got it for time management tips and its much much more a wealth of knowledge on training plans detailed technical influence, multiple training philosophies referenced and talked about in detail. The leg work is all done!

An Absolutely Essential Resource
The Sprinter's Compendium is a veritable encyclopedia for not just all things sprinting and speed development. It's an assemblage of wisdom in program design and a guide to working with athletes of all levels and abilities. One of the things that makes this book so unique is that Ryan Banta combines his immense and comprehensive knowledge of athletics with the experience of so many other experts in the field. This book is an unbiased work which provides a plethora of methods, systems, observations, and opinions. It's the epitome of applied science. I've used The Sprinter's Compendium as a guide for several years and it's definitely upped my knowledge and understanding in sprinting, as well as my results with the athletes I coach. I both congratulate and thank Ryan for his contribution to athletic performance and I highly recommend this book for any athlete or professional who wants to take their game to the next level.John ZombroPhysical Therapist, Coach, and Masters Athlete

You owe it to your Sprinters to buy this Book.
Two summers ago when I was applying to the be the head girl's track coach I reached out to Ryan Banta after listening to a podcast he was featured on. He answered my phone call and helped me prepare for the interview by providing with exceptional advice. Several months later after being hired, I reached out again and he answered yet again; this time the conversation was more about injury prevention and healthy athletes. When The Sprinter's Compendium was finally published, I ordered it within a few weeks and because of the depth, insight, breadth and overall accumulation of knowledge the book can certainly be overwhelming at first sight. The book features so much advice on training for every sprint event up to the 800, that it needs to be read carefully and studiously in it's entirety to be fully appreciated. However, don't be mistaken, each chapter can be read without having to rely on previous chapters to make sense or be understood. So why bring up the phone calls? Because when I reached out to Coach Banta a 3rd time because I wanted to specifically pick his brain about 800 high training, an event he has had a tremendous amount of success with. And as with previous phone calls the conversation with extremely enlightening. And I reached out one last time on a Friday, and you guessed it, he called me back and we had another discussion about training.I bring this up because the man has a passion for track and field. It is evident in the amount of time he spent writing the book and the countless interviews within the book. And still he took the time to answer questions to a person who simply made a cold call.15 years ago, I had to spend $30 a dvd to learn basic drills. Now, at the palm of my hand I have so much information in the Sprinter's Compendium. Essentially, if you've been coaching 1 month or 30 years, this is a book that you need to get your hands on because it can answer so many questions regarding so many coaching and training questions. Not a day has gone by where I haven't at least read a few pages within the book to remind me of something that will assist me in preparing my athletes for the day. Buy it, your track athletes will thank you!

Worth every penny!
This was a recent purchase to hopefully get some new ideas for the upcoming track season. I was not disappointed. Coach Banta put together the most comprehensive and informative books in my collection. The visuals and perspectives from coaches and athletes give great insight into other successful programs. I am very eager to use the content to add and adjust my current coaching philosophies.

The perfect book for developing speed!!
The Sprinter’s Compendium is without doubt the best book I have ever read on developing speed. Coach Banta has a great understanding of all things speed and along with the many contributors, shares that information with the reader in a user friendly and easy to action way. I have owned the book since 2019 and it is still my go to resource for new training plans with my athletes. I work with high school kids in the Turks and Caicos Islands and this book has helped me develop their speed to new heights. All I can do is encourage you to buy this and keep it close by at all times. Thanks Coach!
