Taking it out of the box you can feel the weight right away. I felt more secure and happy with my purchase because of that.Fits great for my door.One thing to keep in mind these are meant to give you a few extra seconds to react to a break in if your first line of defense (locks / dead bolt fail) which can help save your life and lives of your family. They are not a full block from entry. Enough force and these can break. However are a great alternative for the door does not have a dead bolt to add a second layer of defense or if you watch a third layer since you already have lock/dead bolt

I mainly bought this security bar for my sliding glass door because the first security bar I bought was too short. First and foremost, this security bar works great on my sliding glass door.I wanted to use the second security bar on my front door. This isn't in the instructions but, I recommend not using the Extending long tube (F) on a door. When I went to test my front door, the Telescopic tube (E) bent a bit. I removed the Extending long tube (F) and this seemed to do the trick - hopefully the seller will be able to send me an extra Telescopic tube (E) but, we'll see. If not, after testing, the bar still should work fine.

I wanted a set up two for my patio sliding door and my front door. The front door is impossible to open with this jam, YES we tested it out. The sliding door option was easy to get to the size I needed and works very well. Just a bit of extra security goes a long way these days. Breaks down if you want to use it when you travel and great gift for someone going away to college.

Works great on old doors where you may not want an unsightly latch.
