The Confident Student (Textbook-specific CSFI)

I purchased this book for a class I am taking. What is so extraordinary to me is that there is even a need for such a text. I am reminded whatDr. Everett Piper, President of Oklahoma Wesleyan University recently said about college students, "This is Not a Day Care. It’s a University"!This is parallels my view of the text. The course is about how to manage teaching college, but I never realized how self absorbed and narcissistic the individuals attending college in our nation have become. Yes, if the guidelines in this book are followed a student will "feel" better, but it will only provide a false sense of confidence that will not be helpful when the student goes into the real world to face real challenges in the workplace. A book cannot instill confidence. If you need this book for a course you are taking I recommend that you rent it. It is not one that you will ever want in your professional library.

I really liked this textbook. I know other reviewers said it was lame, but I feel like there's a ton of great information in it. I've been in college a long, long time. Due to money, jobs, and children this has been a very long experience. I wish I had taken this class when I first started college. There's a lot of good study tips and ways to understand your learning styles better. It's absolutely helped me as a student. Originally I rented a digital copy of this book, but I ended up buying a copy for myself to look back on in the future.

It gives lots of good reading to the first time college students and return students like myself who are unsure what to do and how to feel about this new or returning experiences. On top of this there good chapters to read like how to stay confident through tough times, study strategies, note taking, learning styles and so forth. I definitely recommend taking a class with this text as a confidence booster

Truly excellent. Relevant up to date, easy to read and understand. Made a lot of sense.Not only have I learnt a lot but it underpins and explains techniques which I wish to conveyto my students and friends.

I am not sure how well this will help my daughter but it was required by her professor this semester at college. I hope it will boost her confidence immensely and help her to be a great educator in the future.

The book was good overall but had some bent/torn edges! I saved tons.

The book came without a cover but I was able to hole punch it and put it into a binder.

This book is a great read.
