Excellent Tool to add to your arsenal WORTH EVERY PENNY
I already purchased the lesser amp version and it works flawlessly, finding the need for another variable charger. I bought this one which has a 75 amp jump start, a bit more power couldn't hurt right. So lets start. Attach to the battery and hit charge it reads the battery and then slowly begins to charge adding amps over a few seconds until it is at full power then showing the % of charge. Give it some time come back and when at 100% it automatically goes into "FLOAT" keeping the battery at 100% Very happy with this, if you need a charger this is the way to go.

Poor Quality Control - test before warranty expires.
I purchased this item from amazon on March 12, 2017. I used it the 1st time on a 2001 Volvo that sits unused in our driveway for months. It has a fairly new battery but after sitting unused for months it was pretty low and wouldn't start. No problem I thought - this is why I bought this $72 charger/starter. At first it looked like it was charging fine but I was in a hurry so I pressed the "Engine Start" button to use the 75 amp engine fast start (90 seconds) feature. Suddenly the car was completely dead - I couldn't even open/close the door locks with the remote - which worked fine until I pressed the "Engine Start" button on this charger. I thought it blew a main fuse but I couldn't find any that were bad. Thinking that there was a bad electrical problem that was caused by a surge from this charger, I had the car towed to a repair shop. To my surprise, all they did was charge the battery overnight and it started right up. The only problem was the battery needed to be charged - and this charger didn't work. Last week it happened again. The Volvo's battery was too low to start the car so I decided to try this charger again - without pressing the "Engine Start" button. So I hooked it up and plugged in this charger - the screen lit up and the two clamp icons flashed and nothing else worked. So 3 1/2 months after the 1 year warranty ran out, after two failed attempts to use this charger, its never worked and it is now too late for me to get it fixed or replaced. I must have gotten a bad unit and should have tested it more before the warranty ran out. I need to purchase another charger and you can be sure it won't be one made by Black and Decker.

First one was faulty - but new one is great
Bought this for my husband as a gift. We didn’t need to use it until recently and just found the unit is defective and doesn’t work. Doesn’t even turn on! Such a waste of money. Update: Changed to 5 stars. I contacted the company and they were excellent. They replaced the faulty unit and now I have no issues. Great customer service and very efficient with taking care of issues

Great Battery Charger for the Home Garage.
The BC25BD works very well and is easy to use. I've already used it to charge and recondition battery in two cars. The display shows battery charge progress and shuts off automatically when charge is complete. Its engineering is well thought out and is designed so that it will not overcharge a battery. I like its ease of use, easy to read screen and overall construction of the product. Electrical plug has a storage area and battery connectors connect to the each side of the charger unit for storage. The only issue I had with this charger is that the Recondition Battery button was installed upside down. Somebody at B&D Q/C missed looking at the face of the product before it was boxed. I have rated the product 4-stars because Q/C missed an upside down button on the face of the unit. This cosmetic defect does not affect the operation of the charger, but it was annoying to receive a product that was not assembled correctly and this small visual defect leaves me thinking that Q/C may not be as observant as they should be during their control checks.

Great to have a charger like this
This charger does what it should. You plug it into the wall, hook up your alligator clips, and hit the button. A little while later, depending on just how discharged your battery is, it finishes and goes into float mode, having charged the battery to 13-some volts. It's simple, capable, fast enough for home use, and also offers a start assist function that I haven't needed to use. It also has a reconditioning mode that claims to break up deposits and get you some more battery life. I haven't tried that yet, and it would be very difficult to prove or disprove that it does anything. What I can say is, it recharged a couple assumed-dead (4 or 5 v) batteries for me and got me out of needing to buy two new batteries, so this charger has paid for itself approximately three times now.

Great charger to provide a fast charge and a trickle charge to your battery
I have never owned a battery charger before. But this winter my truck started to give me fits with the battery getting low when the temperatures remained in the single digits overnight for several nights. So, I looked online and bought this product. I was very happy with the results. I first used it to give a "fast charge" to my battery so that I could start the truck. It counted down 90 seconds on the "fast charge" and then I was able to start the truck. Then I left the charger on to give a "trickle" charge to the battery and let it run for a couple of hours. It did a great job of charging the battery fully. I haven't had any trouble since with my battery. I have now used this on my truck as well as a friends car and we are both happy with the results. The main charge is a 25amp charge and the fast charge is 75amps. There are chargers out there with a larger amp charge, but I don't know why I would need anything more than this. I am completely satisfied.

Had a Cat with similar specs prior and in my opinion this is a better charger. I have used the desulfate feature successfully to restore a couple of weak and seldom used car batteries, they are working for me again at -30C. The charging pattern changes with the state of charge and seems to top up batteries very well. I like the monitor as well as the cables. The booster does work but is sized for a light car or truck, too small for heavy equipment. At twenty amps there is not a long wait to bring up very large batteries any way. As with all smart chargers it will not charge a stone dead battery but this one will apply a boost which may kick it into a high enough level to start a charge in the case of a total drain such as leaving lights on overnight. Otherwise you need an old style transformer type to bring a stone dead battery into a chargeable state, then this one will safely fully charge anything I have put to it. As with any charger ensure your batteries have proper electrolyte level and are not frozen prior to attempting a charge.

Great quality and works well and fast charging for my boat battery, gave 4 as it only comes with 110v power and we use 220v so had to buy a power converter

The charger works most of the time, but sometimes it decides to go into recondition mode when I only asked for a charge. There doesn't seem to be any way to force it to stay in charge mode. I wish it would only recondition when explicitly asked, since it takes 24 hours to finish that cycle. I have to use a different charger when that happens. Otherwise, it seems to be a solid charger/maintainer for my infrequently driven car.
