Ojibwe in Minnesota (People Of Minnesota)

This book is a must for those of us who are interested in Native American people and the history of what happened to them starting 200 years ago. It is concisely written and beautifully written. It is as complete as can be in a short synopsis. My heritage from growing up in Minnesota and learning about the Ojibwe from my nanny. It is published by the Minnesota Historical Society which has many fine historical books about the history of the Native people from before the Europeans invaded eastern north America.

I read this book for a class at the University of Minnesota. It is written by an Indian to preserve Ojibway history and culture. It provided a record of events which greatly contrasts the conventional white population's point of view. It provided a surprising insight into what's going on today and how we got where we are.

Very interesting story about the early occupation of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness by the Ojibwe, Dakota and passage of fur traders.

This book gives a peek in to the Chippwa tribe life style. The Ojibwe are a peaceful hunters and gatherers tribe. They lost a lot when the white man arrived seeking furs and land. Now they are slowly regaining there culture and trying to save their language unlike the Mexicon people who are able to speak their language the Ojibwe were forced to speak only English! Very good book of a proud strong people.

Very interesting, informative and helpful to me as I am Ojibwe. I was adopted in 1945 by a white family and therefore raised in the White Way. I have been struggling throughout the later part of my adult life to learn my culture in my language. books like this are very helpful to me.

On the same order I purchased a large hard cover National Geographic book of American Indians. Now, that book was amazing in its detail and presentation.It’s hard to compete with National Geographic.
