Great investment
My husband and I decided to purchase a water filter after the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment. We didn't want to go with the typical, mainstream brita water filter or the one that connects to a faucet. We have had those before and the filter has to be changed frequently. We liked that the Berkey filters out forever chemicals, specifically the chemicals spilled during the derailment. It also filters out over 200 contaminants, chemicals and bacteria. Setup was fairly easy, however priming the elements was challenging due to the adapter that fit onto our faucet which was a struggle. The life span of the filters is amazing, as they only need to be changed every 11,000 gallons. Although the filters are pricey, around $170ish for 2, they are worth it in the long run. Using the filter is easy. Once set up, just pour water in the top, put the lid back on and you're good to go. Quality of the materials is unmatched. We purchased a stand off Amazon that elevates the element, which you definitely need. Hoping to get the stainless steel spigot soon to replace the plastic one that came with the product. Lastly, I have to say the water tastes AMAZING. Like water should taste. It rivals the taste of Fiji, our preferred bottled water. Our family initially made fun of us for spending so much money on a water filter, but once they tasted it they plan on purchasing one. I was never a big water drinker before, but now I find myself drinking lots of it. We fill up multiple containers of it whenever we leave the house. Great product, give it a try!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!
The water you will drink from the Berkey WILL taste SO MUCH BETTER than any other filter and especially tap, I guarantee it! If silk had a flavor it would taste like this water. Everyone (including the kids) in my house is drinking more water because it’s so good! It is pricey BUT totally worth it IMO. It filters quickly even with only two of the filters installed so you don’t have to sit around and wait forever for the water to be available. We have 4 people in our household and it’s the perfect size for us. We use it for drinking water and cooking. I was honestly worried that it would look big and bulky on the counter and make everything feel a little cluttered but it’s a lot more sleek than I had pictured and rather like it! The second picture has a 40 ounce tumbler for size reference. It’s very sturdy and the filters are very clearly excellent quality. The quality of the city water where we live is awful, smells like pool water and tastes like it too. I HATED that my kids were drinking it every day so I splurged on this for the sake of their health and I am SO HAPPY I DID!!

Makes the best water and ice!
This is the second one of these we have ordered. My husband ordered the first one over my objections to the price, but as soon as I put this water into my countertop ice maker, I was 100% sold on the quality and value. Because this filters out all the junk, the ice is very soft and chewable, and I love it. I also can really tell a difference between the filtered water and ice that come out of our refrigerator and this water/ice. This is soooo much better. So I bought one for my mother as well. Easy to use, easy to clean, and great water.

Good stuff
It looks good and it has a decent manufacturing quality. Easy to set-up clear instructions. The filtered water has no taste, no smell....and that's awesome What's bothering is you don't know the level of the filtered water in to the lower chamber. If you add to much water in to the upper chamber it would spill over

Very pricy, but a very good product.
This works great. There isn’t even a hint of chlorine in the taste of the water. My only complaint is I can’t for the life of me understand why they are so expensive. They do the job but at a price.

Really bad rubber taste after a few weeks of use
While the set up instructions were not great, we got this up and running pretty quickly. The first taste was fantastic and we loved it! However, after a few days, the water started to taste like rubber. We had the two black filters, and the small rubber plugs to plug the holes for additional filters. The way this is designed, the water to be filtered, does not fully drain out of the top, so there is always an inch of water in the top container. The water, which later mixes with water that will get filtered down to the bottom, soaks in these rubber plugs. It does not make sense to me that water you want to filter has to sit in something that leaves a HORRIBLE taste, even after it has gone through the filters. As suggested by Berkey customer service, we soaked the plugs in warm, soapy water for 30 minutes. Rinsed everything out. At first, we thought the problem was solved and the water tasted great again. But a few hours later, after it "sat" on the plugs, it smelled and tasted horrible once again. If they find something besides smelly rubber to block the holes, I might try this filter again. But I am trying to make my water better, NOT worse. If you are using all four filters, you won't have this problem. We don't have floride in our water, so we didn't need those filters. Note.... save your packaging for a few weeks....

One of the best purchases I've made for my home
I absolutely love my Big Berkey! The water tastes clean, and refreshing. I feel so much better knowing my family is drinking filtered water free of chlorine, heavy metals, and contaminants. The stainless steel design looks sleek on the counter, and even guests ask about it. It's a bit of an investment, but worth every penny. Easy to assemble, no power needed, and I trust what's coming our of the spigot. Highly recommend!

Best choice!
Bought Feb 22, 2025: still leaks from the spicket. So it has to stay on my little sink area. That’s really not good since the area is so small and I bought it to go else where. It’s very good besides that. Easy to clean and pour and it makes getting water easily accessible for my child. The stainless steel means it’s long lasting. Love the look. The filter is lasting a long time and I leave by the ocean. So cleaning the filers hasn’t need to be done since I bought it. It’s September now. The package came with a blue facet piece to clean the filters and it’s better than the brown rings before. No other complaints other than the spiked leaking. Strange cause I bought a new one after moving and the first one doesn’t leak at all

I live in London (where water is said to have passed through many people before it got to you) in a Victorian terrace house that is divided into flats. I can't replace the lead water supply pipe from the street as the owner of the flat above me lives abroad and can't be bothered with the expense of replacing the pipe. The water from my kitchen tap has always tasted unpleasant and, with the added lead issue, it ended with my dental hygienist telling me I was far too dehydrated. She told me to get a water filter and so I went with a Berkey, as I wanted something that stands alone and doesn't involve complicated machinery under the sink. Also, I liked the idea that it was gravity-fed and didn't require electricity to work, unlike water distilling machines. I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with the result. They are finding plastic particles in mountain streams in Scotland and the Lake District, so no water in the UK can be considered "100% pure" but with my Berkey the filtered water has no taste of chlorine and no "mankiness" in general. The other day, I drank a glass of water from the kitchen tap without thinking and the horrible taste of it was a shock. I used to have to drink tea and coffee to mask the taste but now I have at least one glass of filtered water for every tea or coffee that I drink and I'm feeling and looking better for it. I still use the kitchen tap for the washing up and cleaning but for everything else, drinking and cooking, I use water from my Berkey. Lead pipes... copper pipes... plastic pipes... they will all have issues and the information that comes with the filter tells us that the Berkey can filter approximately 99% of pollutants (please check the info for the actual details), so I will be having a Berkey in my kitchen at any future property that I move to, even if I'm living in a less-polluted part of the country like Dartmoor. I have a couple of caveats. I have only had my Berkey for a couple of months, so I don't know how easy it is to clean the ceramic filters and I don't know how often they need to be replaced. As we saw with the Volkswagen "Diesel-gate" scandal, it is common practice for companies to be "economical with the actualité" and the filters may have to be replaced earlier than the company says. I won't know for a year or two or three. However, for clean, potable, odour-free water...? In my experience, the Berkey has genuinely been worth the initial expense (it has been cheaper than paying a builder to dig up my front yard and replace the feeder pipe) and I won't balk at the expense of getting new filters when the time comes. Other people who have purchased it complain that not all the water drains from the tanks due to how the ceramic filters and the spigot are placed but I have no issue with this. The small amount of unfiltered water that can't drain out of the top tank is poured into the sink and the small amount of filtered water in the bottom tank gets poured into a jug I keep in the fridge. It's very easy to manage. I just need to add that the advice on assembling the Berkey isn't very clear, especially the part about how you "prime" the ceramic filters. So I recommend that you look at videos on YouTube where people show you how to do it. Once the details are clear, it takes just a few minutes. BTW, after having my Berkey for 3 months, my dental hygienist is really impressed with the results. I am now properly hydrated and the water I drink has less calcium in it thanks to the Berkey, so I have much less tartar on my teeth than I used to.

Delivers perfect water without much effort. Great design and looks great in the kitchen. I certainly can’t live without this filter as it makes poor quality water taste fantastic

Easy to assemble, little bit of work required on the filters before you can use them, but knew this before I bought this unit. Instructions are OK, but followed other users advice and YouTubed away. I have pretty good water in my area, but the Berkey makes it taste much better.
