Everybody touts the ‘forged’ quality of Eastwing pry bars. What people don’t understand is the ductability of metal. If you make metal too hard, it will be brittle and can break and snap easily. If you sacrifice hardness and increase the ductability, the steel will flex rather than break. Just because Eastwing bars are forged steel, doesn’t mean they don’t flex. Because these little bars flex like crazy. The correct way to use pry bars is like this: if the bar is flexing, you need to switch to a larger bar. And for those who complain that pry bars other than Eastwing tend to flex, wouldn’t you rather have it flex than break???

I found the set unexpectedly useful.

I picked up the Estwing 3-piece pry bar set for my handyman work and I’m really impressed. All three bars feel solid and well-made, and the different sizes are genuinely useful for a range of jobs. The profile is nice and thin so it can get into tight gaps, but it’s still sturdy enough that you can really lean on it without worrying. Overall, a very versatile and reliable set to have in the toolkit.
