Bought as a quiet 40th birthday present for a big cheese fan. It was well received and the cheese was simple to make and actually really tasty. The outside of the box, but inside could’ve been better present. If felt a bit like a kids science kit. But overall, really happy with the purchase.

Overall I am very happy with this kit. The directions are clear and easy to follow. There are some fun recipes included , to use your final product. But a few things for awareness, this kit was created in Scotland so the use of goats milk and unhomogonized cow's milk might be a reach for some in the US. For the cows milk homogonized whole fat milk can always be substituted and is stated as such in the recipes. The outside of the box states " stored in your cupboard this kit will last absolutely ages ......". However, the rennet needs to be stored in the freezer, and dries spices do not last forever ( quality/taste).There is also a best before date for dried ingredients. So I wouldn't sit on the kit. If it's a gift don't buy it too far ahead of time. Also the rennet is in tablet form and some of the recipes call for 1/4, so a pill splitter might come in handy. Or you need a really sharp knife. It seems to include most of what you need except a stock pot and the dairy of course. I am happy I bought and and would definitely buy again as a gift! I do think it was a wee bit pricey, but convenient to get all the ingredients.

When I saw this kit, I knew I had to give it a try. First impressions bode well for the end result: there are so many options! Not only is the variety a great change of pace for at-home mozzarella and ricotta-making crafts, but the kit includes everything you need from tools to spices. The instructions are well-written, the packages are clearly labeled and it seems to be a simple as 'just add milk!' There are also recipes for using each variety, which I find great for anyone unfamiliar with paneer or Scottish crowdie. While I'm going to keep and use the kits for myself, this is also a really cool gift for anyone who loves cooking, crafts or just cheese! There's also a vegan kit that I'm excited to share with my vegan and lactose intolerant friends.

Not as big as I thought, but it is great for making smaller batches of cheese. I teach food science and the students loved making cheese and how the process of making cheese works.
