I like to use one when I wash my hoodie to keep the strings in place. I use two separate locks when wearing them. The locks are plastic but are very well built and hold up to washing with zero issues.

The double hold cord lock's spring is too weak and can cause cords to slip out. However, the largest, single cord lock's spring is strong enough.
