Unlike the last pair I bought, these oven gloves provide heat protection with a double layer of fabric on the back of the hands, as well as the insulation for the front, which I find vital for taking dishes out of the oven

Having read the other reviews I was unsure about purchasing these for my mum as she needed a new pair and her hands are not so good these days. The other reviews raised concerns about the silicone pads being too stiff to grip with.When they arrived I tried them out and in general noted that they were well made from good quality materials and were well stitched at all the seams. I then tried using them to lift a stoneware casserole dish from the oven and also a large saucepan of potatoes from the hob.I had no trouble applying the correct pressure to the sides of the dish to lift it out and found that the silicone pads gave great grip compared to the fabric gloves I was used to, the same with the pan on the hob, I griped the pan either side over the opposing handles and had no trouble.I can see that if you wanted to pinch grip small pan handles and trays or perhaps knobs on glass lids etc you might have trouble as it's a big insulated square of silicone & padding but I also expect that they would be more forgiving over time.Having then given them to my mum and asked how she got on she said they were fine for general use but when getting a thin baking tray out you have to get it from both sides rather than pinching the front edge, but said it wasn't a big problem.

Quite narrow in width and fits snugly around my (small) hands.Does the job though and do not feel any heat at all whilst using it.

Wash well, seem to be adequately heat resistant too.We have a holiday let so these have been washed 5 or 6 times already between guests and hold their shape and colour well, so far, anyway! We are buying a second set so we can swap them in and out now that they are tried and tested.

I had high hopes for this product, sadly it came up a little short. The glove do have a good length to them, allowing you to handle wide items such as large baking trays, and the long glove length really do keep your wrists and arms from accidentally touching hot surfaces.However, I was rather disappointed with the silicone material, although it is a great size and has ribbing for extra grip, it's too thin. Holding a hot pan for more than 10 seconds and you can definitely feel the heat coming through. I had hoped for something a little more robust.It's not a bad product per se, it has some good qualities and is certainly better than basic all-cloth alternatives. But if you're looking for oven gloves that really protect your hands from the heat, you may want to look elsewhere.

If you have used oven gloves that offer a bit more precision, you may not like these. They're very effective at keeping out heat, but the sturdy material comes at the cost of being able to hold smaller items. Basically, the rubber/material is so thick that you'll struggle to grip items nicely unless they are very large (e.g. oven trays). Works for us, though.

Decent gloves, I like the silicone pads as they add extra grip, but the glove pockets are actually a little too deep to be comfortable when using both hands holding a roasting tin for example. I’d prefer it if they were the standard depth, although this would offer less burn protection.
