Nice and bright and visible from a good distance
This turned out even better than I hoped. My door is quite a distance from the street so I needed a good clear illuminated sign above the doorway. This was easy to fit and looks great. The (very white!) light actually illuminates the area beneath the sign as well, so the entire front door is lit up. Can't comment on longevity out in the open since it's only been up a short while but I'm very happy with it so far...

I SPENT A...
**** SEE BELOW UPDATES TO EXPLAIN REDUCED STAR RATING ****...very long time over several days searching for an illuminated house number that did not rely on solar power (as these things NEVER last) but looked good and seemed straightforward to fit: I finally settled upon this one.Why ? Well, I liked the fact that everything I needed for the job was included. I had found other decent-looking lights but then I had to research transformers and the like because I wouldn't have been able to connect them ! But not with this. When I then tested adding the item to my Amazon basket and I was immediately given the option to customise it, I knew that I had found what I had been searching for because I was immediately able to see what the different font styles were like without any hassle - and I didn't have to mess about with sending messages after purchase or anything like that. Overall, then, it was a very positive buying experience.I received the item in good time (a few days) - a very decent case of 'under-promising and over-delivering' - and was keen to get going. First impressions were not excellent, I have to say. There were small scratches on the top edge of the aluminium block that holds the acrylic plaque and a quantity of amazingly sticky glue on one of the edges. Furthermore, one side of the LED strip was coming away from the top of the block.I immediately took a picture and e-mailed the seller, and the response, although unexciting, was at least very prompt indeed. He said that the LED strip will be fine and offered a brief explanation for the glue. I decided to stick the LEDs back into place before fitting and removed the glue with some meths (which took an eternity to successfully do). I then wired the lot up before installation to check that it all worked (and it did) and then set about getting it all in place. The fitting is straightforward for anyone with a basic understanding of DIY matters and the ability to read instructions. There is no manual for the electrical side of things but rather the usual 'consult someone who knows what to do' clause but it really isn't difficult if you have the ability to wire a plug. And that, in fact, is exactly what I put on one end. I drilled into the house and plugged it in using a two-core lighting flex and put an electronic timer on the plug for a 'dusk to dawn' kind of setting (which I will, of course, need to adjust as the seasons alter). And the result ? The light looks really good. The font I chose (cataneo) for the number and road name was exactly as given on the customisation page prior to ordering and the letters and digits were neat and clear. The LEDs give a bright light (alas, of the 6000K sort (cool white)) that allows the number to be read really easily from the road. (The name on the plaque cannot be read until someone approaches the house but that is absolutely fine, and we included it in the order mainly as 'peace of mind' to delivery drivers (having been one, I know how soul-destroying it is to search for numbers in the dark and then get somewhere you think is right only to knock on the door and be told you are in the wrong road !). It is worth mentioning that the price of the item is the same even if one requires only the number printed, which is the other reason we did the road name as well.)So, the verdict ? Others have commented that this item is overpriced (£50 at time of purchase). I think that, when one looks into everything that is available and considers that at least all that is required arrives at the same time and in the same small box, it is justifiable, although it is at the top end of what is acceptable as the finish could have been better on the one I received. In my opinion, the delivery charge on top of the item price was a little galling and, as it changes people's perceptions of the product - rightly or wrongly - I think the seller should consider dropping it... but then what'd I know ?I am all too aware that reviews given when in the initial haze of consumer contentment are of far less value than those submitted after some time, but, as is my wont, I shall update this review if anything ceases to function/look as it should. So, if you don't hear from me again, I can recommend this item to you as it does the job you want it to do - and it does it rather well...FV**** UPDATE ****In less than seven months, three of the small LEDs in the strip of the unit have stopped working. There is still sufficient brightness to read the number at night but the light is no longer uniform and, naturally, I have to question the longevity of the item. I will provide further updates as necessary...**** UPDATE AUGUST 2024 ****All bulbs are now not functioning properly. A very dim light is being emitted that doesn't illuminate a thing. Seems like a lot of money for less than two years. I just hope the transformer is still working properly so I can try getting something else to wire into it...

It arrived quickly and looks good.
It arrived quickly and looks good. It has been reliable and is reasonably robust. Not trivial to install but not over difficult.

Nice design but quite dear.
I love the design of these house number signs with lights. The price is rather high but they were exactly what I wantedOne of the LEDs failed after 3 years but I contacted the supplier. They were very helpful and told me what replacement to order.

Disappointed
Very disappointed. It only came with half the design. The house number & postcode. I want the street name also on the plaque. The house number is scratched. And it comes with a transformer to power the lighting. No mention in the details. However it’s helping people with disabilities so I didn’t want to refund it. But it does need a better standard of finish. I wouldn’t recommend this product. It’s rubbish to be fair, for the money.
