Not Fun for My 10 Year Old; 13+ Enjoyed It
8+ seems to be a little young to really enjoy this game. My 10 year old didn't really like this game because there is strategy involved, and when he could see things were not going his way, he got frustrated. It takes a bit longer with younger people or if you have that one person who really overthinks everything (every group seems to have one, lol!)Our group was ages 10, 13, 21, 23, 36, 39. Everyone 13 and up had fun with this game. We haven't played the more advanced version yet with the hearts, but it's nice to know that there is a variation for when this gets boring. I don't foresee that any time soon since it's random every game. Don't let the 22 rounds fool you, it goes very quickly.RE: the rules. It mentioned orthogonally adjacent, which we did have to look up and verify that we understood after reading the rest of the rules and looking at the pictures. From what we understood, it just means any block North, South, East, or West (not diagonal).Scoring is straightforward and easy to do - ages 8+ could easily handle that part. (ex: if you get exactly 5 fives touching, you get 5 points -- unless it is on a star or heart, then it's worth more).Overall, it's small and easy to pack for travel/camping. It's good for anyone that likes strategy games or puzzles. It comes with 4 pencils, so if you intend on playing with a bigger group, bring a pack of pencils or pens with you to fill out the cards.

Simple and travel-friendly roll-and-write
Splitter is a REALLY straightforward roll-and-write game. You can explain the rules to someone in just a few minutes, and it's definitely playable by younger kids. (The suggested age range of 8+ is about right, in my opinion.)The game feels like a lightweight puzzle. You roll the two dice, then write the number from one of the die on the left side of the board and the number from the other die in a symmetrical position on the right side of the board. If that sounds random, it is AT FIRST. But as you continue to roll and play numbers, your goal is to create groups on the board where the same number clusters together. For example, you would ideally like to have two 2's touching each other, three 3's touching each other, and so on up to six 6's touching each other. The rules are pretty short, so you can see the pictures I uploaded if you want to read them all the way through. This is the kind of game you can pull out in an airport or at a restaurant while you wait for 10-15 minutes. In that sense, it's kind of like Uno, except more puzzle-y.My only regret is that there's not even a slight attempt at having a theme to bring the game together. I could imagine this game being called "Mirror Dimension" where you're trying to score points in two alternate realities. And there could be fun artwork supporting that concept. As small and silly as that sounds, I think it would make the game seem more appealing, especially for kids. Right now, the game just feels like a random puzzle, which is fine I guess.I don't think this game will become a classic or a must-have, but I think it fills a niche for people who love the roll-and-write format and would like to take a simple game on the go.

Family fun
My kids and I really enjoyed playing this game. I like that it combines a little bit of chance (rolling the dice) with a little bit of logic (placing the pairs of numbers appropriately to score). Gameplay moves pretty quickly with just 22 dice rolls to complete the game. As you start out, it's easy to find spots to place numbers so that they score by being adjacent to other similar numbers. However, as the game progresses and you have fewer choices for placement, it's much more challenging to find a spot that doens't ruin your previous patterns. I had to double check the scoring for my youngest child, but is pretty understandable for older kids. This game was a lot of fun and definitely one that will be added to our game night repertoire.

Fun, luck with a little bit of strategy
Splitter has the same roll then write gameplay as Qwinto, but not much else in common. You are trying to make groups of exactly 1 1, 2 2s, etc., but you have to put the numbers in mirror positions, so an unlucky roll can bust one of your sets. It's very easy and quick to play, although you can get slowed down overthinking your placement. This will make a great addition to our grab and go games for playing in coffee shops or other spots with the kids. The box is a little awkward to get everything in and the way you have to fold the top, I would prefer a box with a lid and simple placement like Qwinto.

Strategy game
It is a strategy game, but it’s not really a really fun game. We played with 2 Eighty year old and 2 fifty seven year old. We played two games and were ready to move on to a different game. I had to explain the rules a few times. I can see this being a good game for a math classroom.

Interesting game
Pretty quick and easy to learn but difficult to master. The game itself is really just a couple of dice, 2 pads of printed paper and some pencils. So not sure it's a great value. It's a pretty quick game so not a bad time filler or something to play as an intro to a game night. Not bad but also not great.

Clever Roll & Write
The game is a light roll & write with interesting decisions and a twist (mirrored) in mechanics. The games goal is to create contiguous groups of the same number. The game play is fast, easy, and quick to learn, teach, and play. Overall, it is a game that hits the filler aspect of gaming, but enjoyable enough that can be played several times one after another.

Simple and fun
The game gives you everything you need, even plenty of pencils. The rules are very very simple and makes for a quick fun time. Not our favorite game, but fun for one round here and there.
