Product Description Featuring classics like "Handle With Care," "End Of The Line," and "Heading For The Light," super-group Traveling Wilbury's Collection highlights all of the band's music and previously unreleased bonus tracks through this re-mastered double album. The DVD features behind the scenes footage of the band writing and recording, along with their 5 video clips. .com The Traveling Wilburys were one of the few supergroups that lived up to their promise, because they didn't try to. Things started inauspiciously when George Harrison, needing a B-side for a 1988 single, called in friends Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison for assistance. Two albums later--the second without Orbison, who had passed away shortly after the first was released--the loose-knit collective had recorded material that was as durable, and occasionally eclipsed, the participants' legendary solo work. The Wilburys succeeded due to a genial and contagious camaraderie that permeates both discs. What could have been a train wreck of ego clashes instead resulted in a frothy meeting of the minds. These guys are having a blast, trading lead vocals and harmonies on energetic folk-rock, quirky rockabilly, and Beatlesque pop that shimmers with the respect and esteem the members clearly hold for each other. Harrison and Lynne's rather slick production polishes off edges that might better have been left unvarnished, but there's no denying the loosey-goosey craftsmanship at work in tunes such as "Handle with Care," "End of the Line," and a striking Orbison performance on "Not Alone Anymore" that ranks with any of his finest. Both albums were million-sellers, but oddly went out of print for about a decade until Rhino resurrected them, adding two rare tracks per disc as well as a DVD of music videos and a band documentary. The resulting package is a comprehensive overview of a once--well, twice--in-a-lifetime project that, especially after Harrison's passing, will never be repeated. --Hal Horowitz

Historicaly Important & just plain great music!!!
WOW!!! This super group spans the entire range of Rock & Roll from its birth with Roy Orbison's records on Sun label to Tom Petty who was at this time pumping out very successful contemporary music! Then factor in Rock & Roll legends like George Harrison & Bob Dylan, & we can't dismiss the super talent of Jeff Lynne & everything he brings to the table... WOW!!! One thing that really makes me happy about George Harrison putting together this group of Genius talent is that Roy Orbison a very humble but hugely talented man was able to be a member of this super group before he passed away! Not only did Roy get to do what he loved he learned that these super star had idolized him & was a huge influence on their careers!!! Unfortunately after the death of " The Traveling Wilburys " creator George Harrison it is almost a certainty that no more music will be made, this makes this product quite possibly the definitive collection. With the companion D.V.D. & the previously unreleased material & the beautiful packaging & sound quality this is what most Wilbury fans are looking for. In some ways this Super Group is as historically important as " The Million Dollar Quartet" except with " The Traveling Wilburys " you are getting finely tuned & polished songs & not a spontaneous single Mic recording like 'The Million Dollar Quartet". I would highly recommend this product to anyone that has a serious love for Rock & Roll & has a extensive Rock & Roll Library. It is "Ice Cream for the Ears"!!! & a great addition for collectors with a eclectic taste musically or a love for Rock & Roll & its roots. I could go on for hours but if your checking this C.D.+ D.V.D. collection out I would probably be preaching to the choir!!! For anyone even with a casual interest or curiosity I doubt you will be disappointed with this purchase! I can definitely see this product gaining in value in the future so you could look at it as a safe investment if you have any reservations!

The Traveling Wilburys...At last !
Plastic Ono Band o Wings?, Imagine o Band On The Run? Yoko o Linda?

Love The Traveling Wilburys!!
I had Vol. 3 on a cassette tape, but all of my cassette tape players have died. Vol. 1 I have on LP but prefer to leave my LP collection alone and listen to them on CD. This collection is great, because Harrison's widow added the unreleased tracks.

Relax and Enjoy - It IS about the Music!
Don't listen to the hype or to the critics. When you look at Rock's recorded history (sorry 'bout that) the names behind the Wilburys didn't produce a lot of bad music. What they produced was frequently the best of the moment and every once in a while, they gave us nearly timeless music. And both of the albums in this 3 disk set give us that gift: a place and images in time and something timeless. Watch the train riding video and imagine Roy in that rocking chair. Whatever other deficiencies there are on the DVD, and there are some: spotty sound, jumpy shots and cuts, and no few almost corny 80's touches, it is worth the journey to get on that train.Yea, everyone says album 1 is the best with Roy Orbison and that may be true but number three (two) is so close I think it is a wash. I grew with three of these guys. They grew up with me. Two came along later and belonged to the group regardless of age. It was and is the music that binds them together. It is the music that was the heart of a friendship. It was never about fame or their names or what could have been and were in other places and times, colossal ego clashes. When the Wilburys gathered, it was all about the music. Thank God.Listen. Watch. Enjoy. It's not perfect but that's a tough label to get. The Traveling Wilburys set is close enough for me.

Nice to have this much "Wilbury" in one place!
During their short career, the Traveling Wilburys produced too little music, especially compared with how beloved they were. Maybe some more archived stuff will come out. In the meantime, we can enjoy this large collection, which I think is their entire official recorded output.
