Biostrip Concrete Remover 1 Litre Safe to use concrete, cement and mortar cleaner

Recently had to reset and point slate paving in front of the house. Very difficult not to get mortar staining on the slabs. Tried scrubbing and pressure washing with little effect. Applied the Biostrip by pouring onto the slabs and spreading carefully with a wide paint brush. Fizzes up like lemonade. Left for about 20 minutes and washed slabs down. A white residue was left on the affected areas. Scrubbed this away with a hard broom and scrubbing brush. Dried up nice and clean. Had to touch up odd spots a second time but what an overall result! Make sure you wear protective gloves and proper clothing for the job to keep the liquid off your skin. There is a warning on the container that it can cause skin irritation. Very impressed with this product.

Didn’t work and a waste of money

I accidentally stained my new Indian sandstone paving slabs whilst pointing them. I chose this product to try and clean them up as I didn’t want to use a more corrosive mortar remover.I used a handheld spray gun to squirt the solution onto the affected areas and lightly brushed it in using my yard brush. The mortar bubbles up on contact with the solution and you can scrape it off. To be honest though, I left it on for a short time and used my pressure washer to remove the sludge.The point to remembering is that I used it on a thin layer of mortar stain. If you have heavy cement deposits then it might not work or it might require several applications.Compared to the more acidic cleaners, it is nearly 5 times more expensive but it is better for the environment (especially if you have pets) and it is not corrosive on more delicate surfaces like sandstone.Definitely would recommend it.

Easy to use, and did the job

This product works to remove fine cement film or residue, but that is its limit.I bought this hoping to help clean the internals of a well used cement mixer and its just not up to it. Anything more than a millimeter or so is not touched.

Disappointed to be honest. It was bought to remove ¼" thick limescale and even with multiple applications left for many hours, it only worked on the very thinnest of edges.

Actually used this to clear hardened screed out of steel pipes. Soaked for 24 hours and worked well

Yes, this removed some staining where the concrete powder had dried, over spilling from slab joints (my fault for trying to sweep in dry mix into joints). But on some older previous thicker overspill, it didn’t do what it says on the tin,, so to speak. The only way for this stuff to work is if you sand or grind down right down so there’s just a film of old concrete left there. Then after leaving for a short while, a stiff brushing will get it off. But, be aware to rinse well or there’s a white stain left. A bit like salts have come out of the paving.
