PORTEK LOGMASTER SAW HORSE

I'm a conservation volunteer and, for 20 years, have been helping my local wildlife trust to restore a nearby woodland reserve. I've spent untold hours chainsawing cordwood into logs that we sell to help pay for our conservation tools and materials. Logging 3-4 inch diameter (and smaller) stems has always been tedious and tricky because they bounce around even using a conventional saw horse. I used our new Portek Logmaster today for the first time. It's absolutely terrific. Very strong construction. Makes logging so much safer, faster (by about 25%, I reckon), cheaper (less fuel). Much less tiring for the operator because the Portek takes all the weight of the saw. There's generally much less lifting and bending. To re-fuel the chainsaw, simply pull out one spring clip, remove the saw/clamp/guard as a single unit and then fill the saw as normal. Great product and very fast delivery from The Oregon Shop.

Wish we'd bought this a long time ago. It has made log cutting much easier, quicker and safer. It is quite easy to set up, and not too heavy to carry once assembled. It folds up to aid carrying and storage. It is sturdy, a good height and well balanced in use, taking the weight of the saw so preventing back ache. An attached guard covers most of the blade so it is much safer than cutting with a free chainsaw. The guard holds the saw so you can let go to put on the next log. There is a guide to slide the log up to for consistent length. Takes up to roughly 8" diameter logs. It has made log cutting so much easier it was well worth the money. One of the best pieces of kit we've ever bought.

Forget the cheap imitations this saw horse is the safest you will ever use. It very well built and sturdy and it makes handling the chainsaw very safe with very little or no chance of kick back. It is very easy to assemble from opening the box to start using it took 20 mins. If you cut a lot of logs then this is the saw horse for you. You cannot put a price on safety.

Excellent product, well made, sturdy. I'm using it with a stihl chainsaw. Take you time with it and set every thing up on it first (height of saw horse, height of blade). The only thing I have found a problem with is the picture you see on the box is a little misleading, as I've tried putting the saw in different positions to get this position, but don't seem to get it correctly (maybe something I'm doing wrong?).

I bought this for my husband - sad, but we've got to that stage of life! He's delighted with it and so, so am I! Assembly was pretty straight forward and, if nothing else, it is a solid saw horse. However the mechanism for holding the chain saw also means much safer cutting and takes the strain off the user's back. The end result is more logs cut safely and with less effort - win win!!

This is an excellent, well made saw bench which makes the chainsaw logging job so much safer and easier. Need to check the position/ security of the saw from time to time but should be doing that anyway! I would recommend any one who uses a chainsaw for logging to get one of these.

Does exactly what it is described as doing. Makes cutting much safer, quicker and easier. Would recommend to anyone with a chainsaw. Well worth the money as it is well made and sturdy. Don't buy the cheaper model, there is a difference!

great item, but i realised after I bought it that there are similar items that are half the price at amazon, screwfix and tool station.
