Long-time Panasonic & Braun user converts to Philips!
For most of my adult shaving life spanning some 40+ years, I have been a loyal Braun or Panasonic foil shaver user. I have intermittently tried rotary shavers from Philips/Norelco, but always returned them as they offered what I perceived to be a suboptimal shave. Panasonic Arc5 shavers shave very close, but sometimes irritatingly too close for my sensitive skin, and they often struggle to capture curly, flat-lying hairs requiring me to touch up with a blade. Also, I have never liked the high-pitched whine of the Panasonic shavers, which I have feared over time may actually be causing damage to my hearing. Looking forward to my next 40+ years, and with my latest Panasonic shaver just having passed the two-year mark - which, in my experience, usually heralds the death of the electric motor - I figured let me try the latest Philips rotary shaver to see what they are offering.Enter the Philips 9400 Shaver, and consider me a Philips convert! I shave wet in the shower using just a dab of Bump Patrol Cool Shave Gel (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079DXYZGN?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1), and this shaver gives me a very close, smooth shave with zero irritation whatsoever. The shaver works best using slow circular motions, so I shave my entire face and neck in clockwise slow, circular motions, then repeat in counter-clockwise slow circular motions. I then give a few straight passes over my cheeks and under my chin. The Philips is so gentle that I can’t even feel it cutting the hairs, and it doesn’t miss hairs like my former Braun and Panasonic shavers did, especially those flat-lying hairs on my cheek and neck. Shaving with the Philips, I haven’t encountered any problems with ingrown hairs either, which I often experienced on my cheeks with Panasonic shavers because of their irritatingly close shave. The Philips is also whisper quiet, so no concerns about it damaging my hearing long-term. The shaver also connects to a Philips app on my smartphone via Bluetooth to give me analysis of my shaves and shaving tips and keeps me updated on the shaver’s maintenance – not really necessary, but a very cool 21st-century feature to have. Also, if you register the shaver through the app you will receive a whopping 5 year warranty, which is the longest I’ve ever had on an electric shaver. I’ll update my review if I run into any problems, but for now, I am very pleased with this shaver and hope it stands the test of time.

Comfortable and high quality shaver.
Easy and comfortable to use. Battery lasts a long time between charging. Does a great job of shaving without irritating the skin. Comes with a plug-in charger which is nice and convenient. Like the popup trimmer on it too. Charging speed time is FAST!

It's worth the investment
I've been using this Philips electric shaver for a few weeks, and it's really changed up my morning routine. The shaver fits nicely in my hand and is light enough to easily move around my face. The blades are super sharp and give me a close shave without any irritation, which is great for someone with sensitive skin like me. The battery lasts for ages; I can go through several shaves before needing to recharge, making it perfect for travel.Cleaning is easy since it's waterproof and can just be rinsed under the tap. Plus, it comes with some attachments that help with trimming sideburns and styling my beard, which is really handy.Overall, the Philips electric shaver gives a reliable and comfy shaving experience. It's a bit pricey, but considering how well it works and how convenient it is, I think it's worth the money.

Definitely worth the cost
WOULD BUY AGAIN! Quality product. Feels good in your hand, gives the closest shave you're going to get short of using a multi blade razor. Holds a good long charge for multiple long shaves (I keep my entire head shaved). Great wet with soap or shaving cream, and also great dry. Easy to clean.

Great Product!
Provides a clean, close, comfortable shave! This shaver replaced an old Norelco 6000 model shaver and I feel like I am getting a much closer shave with this shaver!!Only wish it came with the charging stand, had to purchase the stand from a non-norelco seller.

Just get the Braun
I really wanted this shaver to be good, I tried everything. I owned the last generation of 9000 series with SH90 shaving heads and really enjoyed the results. I thought I'd get a similar experience but I was way off. This shaver is much rougher on the face and you have to be very, very careful or it will give you terrible irritation or even micro cuts. If you are super careful and don't apply any pressure at all, it won't completely destroy your face but you will have a 5 o'clock shadow at 9 am... you might as well not shave. I tried to use it wet, dry, with shaving gel, after shave cream, in the shower, I tried everything to try to make it work. I even tried using it on my head but, believe it or not, it irritated the skin on my head and took too long to shave my head (about 7 mins of constant passes). After 4 weeks I gave up and went back to my old Braun series 7.I think the difference between SH90 and SH91 shaving heads is the aperture to capture the hair is wider and more aggressive. The rotors are also faster which contributes to the irritation. I did not feel any difference with the protective skin glide coating or the sense IQ technology, I think they're just gimmicks that don't really have an impact on the shave. The app is really useless, it just told me if I used the circular motion all the time and how long it took me to shave, which I can't realistically get 100% circular motion all the time and it would take me over 5 mins to get a decent shave). The trimmer sucks! Worst trimmer I've ever used... but I have a trimmer at home so it wasn't a big deal. Battery life and charging speed is excellent though, and it's not as noisy as the foil shavers.I wanted to send it back but I'm in Peru and Amazon does not work with DHL directly for some reason and they will only reimburse me up to $20 for shipping so I have to use public postal services (but they won't take it because of the battery). DHL will take it but for $104 (they really asked over $100 to ship a $160 shaver). So now I'm stuck with this shaver that tears my face apart every time I use it and I have no way to send it back. Your experience may be different to mine, of course, but if you have coarse hair and sensitive skin, I recommend you go with Braun or one of the older 9000 series.
