Not quite what I hoped for....3.5-4 stars.
This is a little difficult for me to review. I'm a diehard Sherri fan, but the last couple books have been kinda...meh. The story is good, but not amazing. I like the plot and setting, but she threw in some Norse mythology, Celtic stuff, and I'm sure there's something else that I'm forgetting and it all just sort of confused me. Take Devyl for instance. We learn he's this, then a little later in the story we add in a bit of that, then near the end we learn he is also something extra. It was hard to keep up. I honestly still don't exactly know or understand what he is (or Mara for that matter). It took me a little longer to get into the story as well. I thought going into the story, the heroine was going to be one person, but BAM it turned out to be someone else. I guess I should've paid better attention to the synopsis (lol). I'd say about halfway into the book is when things started clicking and rolling into a good, interesting read. I did like how we learn a little more about Thorn (wish there were more parts of the story where he was concerned because his parts were my favorite) and there were some things revealed (Chronicles of Nick) that was a nice surprise.Overall, I think I'd rate this a 3.5-4 stars. I will continue the series, because as I said earlier, I'm a diehard Sherri fan.

Excellent!!!
New twist into the realm if Thorn. I was surprised and stunned by the intricacies of the storyline. I was aghast at the characters depths. I cried at the sacrifices made. Beautiful and endearing, terrible and tragic. It was wonderful and I read into the wee hours if morning. Lived it and I can't wait to read more! Devyl, Mara, and the Hell Chasers on the high seas once again! Lock and load!!

ok
I was very disappointed with this book. I really like this author so I thought this book would be good. The only reason I didn’t give it a to start reading is because I like the author and it did have a decent storyline. at the beginning of the book there was a lady that was looking for her brother and devil pirate made her get onto his ship. I thought that the story was going to be about her but it was mostly about devil and his lady that also was part of the ship. There was some references to some of the people in gods that were in her previous books. It was a little bit difficult to understand because of the so-called pirate slang but it was still decent.

Loved this story and how all the characters intertwine and the info about Adrian and Thorn can't wait for the next book in the series

like many people
I, like many people, didn't hide my disappointment in the author's last book, Dragonmark. You can be a superfan of an author, which I am, and still disagree with some of their decisions. Blind loyalty and an inability to criticize or express your opinions is a dangerous thing, it stifles free thought and the intelligent exchange of ideas. It stifles growth. So, I am ecstatic to report that Deadmen Walking was a redemption in the best way. Soooo good, and I'm not just saying that because of the Malachai tidbits (total bonus points though ;) )I was reminded as I haven't been in a while why I was drawn into SK's fabulous world to begin with, and this from someone who rarely reads anything romance anymore. This was much more than a typical pararomance, it was world-building and character development in a way SK excels at.Excellent read, well written, draws you in and makes you care about not only the main characters but the ancillary characters as well. Excited for the next book.

Still Making Up My Mind
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this book. I think I enjoyed it, but definitely didn’t fall in love with it. The first book in a new series is always hard because there’s so much to introduce. My head got a little dizzy with all of the different characters and their backgrounds, on top of a lot of uncommon names and references that you had to put in effort to process, but since I assume that they will continue to make appearances in future books, there was a purpose for the introduction and I’ll eventually get everything straight. A HUGE annoyance for me was that the main character Devyl had four or five different names. Come on, that’s not necessary, especially when it’s the same person calling him by more than one, or even two or three, names. And then there’s the mention of the Dark Hunters in the books. I’ve seen other reviews that people liked this, but I felt it was forced and completely unnecessary. Can SK not write an entirely new series without it being a sort of spin off? Creatively from a plot perspective, this book isn’t really all that new. A leader of a group of misfits who are given a second chance as long as they kill bad guys and are looking for redemption while their leader serves a higher being that exerts control over all. Hmmm. Sounds a lot like Acheron leading the Dark Hunters in their quest to kill Daimons while he’s under Artemis’ control. Unless there’s some major plot twist down the line in this new series, I see no point why the Dark Hunters needed to be mentioned at all. Finally as far as the romance, this caught me off guard at first, since it came out of nowhere. However, I felt this book had a more emotional element to the romance that I enjoyed and I did cry a couple of times. By the end of the book, I felt overall that the romance was a little rushed and even though this was a book of decent length, it felt like the two characters as a couple weren’t given the full attention they deserved from a romantic perspective. Because of this, I hope that future books in the series may continue to incorporate them as a major focus, instead of previous approaches where the next book just moves on to a new couple as the major focus. Bottom line, I’m interested, I’ll definitely read the next one to see the direction the series is going on, and then I’ll probably make a final judgment on how much of a fan I am.

Amazing

Awesome
As always Sherri has more than delivered although predictable when evil always gets the upper hand unbeknownst to the good side but good always triumph so m more than happy... The romantic in me is ecstatic....

Great stroy, but i felt lacking in certain areas.
Great story, fun and full of classic S.K action. This is going to be another great series. I felt the romance part was set up a bit late and i got a bit mis directed and thougt Cameron was the love interest. Especially after her intro and opening and then she sort of fell off the story telling path. Also i felt like we missed out on seeing their relatiinship bloom between and all of a sudden K is willing to die for her? Not super believeable. Maybe the next book will answer these questions for me? Humph.

Buena
Bastante buena.
