Canon EOS 77D For Dummies

Great Companion to Canon 77D
I highly recommend this as a companion to your Canon 77D purchase, if you are a novice or intermediate with SLRs. The book is full of easy to understand text and color pictures. Yes, most topics in the book are covered in the owners manual. But, the book is easier to read and follow, the color pictures help clarify the concept, and the books organization is easier to find what you are looking for within Chapters. The nuances of using the Menu and Custom Functions are better explained in the book. As an example, the books description of connecting the camera to my smart phone made the task simple and worked first time. Note, if you are high-intermediate, expert, or professional in photography, then you do not need this book, but they you really didn't need a "For Dummies" book in the first place.

Great book for explaining a Great camera.
I like the "For Dummies" series for cameras. I initially used it for my canon t5i. The book simplifies the technical jargon that comes in the Guide book that comes with the camera. The"for Dummies" series of books are more detailed and explain why certain actions or buttons are used. The descriptions and the associated pictures help get the info in useable form for the reader. They give advice and info that the "Guide Books" don't. You just don't get this classroom style info in the camera Guide Book. Hands down, excellent learning tool.

Writing is very small
I initially bought the Canon 70D for Dummies book but purchased this book because I returned the 70D camera I purchased. I got this book because I am going to purchase a 77D. I am disappointed with this book. The detail in the previous "dummies" books is gone. The writing is very small and if this is your first experience with SLR cameras you are going to feel overwhelmed. There just doesn't seem to be the depth of instruction as in previous books. The paper feels cheaper. There are probably better books for first time DSLR users. I would like to give it a 2 1/2.

Nice book but over kill
This 340 page book tells every single thing about the Canon EOS 77D camera and it's multitude of options and settings you could ever conceivably want to know. But, what's largely missing are practical step by step instructions for putting all of it into use. Honestly, I found the small Canon booklet included with the camera much easier to use and certainly more practical and "to the point". I use the Dummies book only when I need to know minute details about something.

very good resource for this camera
This is a very good resource. It does contain an error or two, mostly minor. I have more than one of their "camera" books and find them very helpful. I suspect some of the errors occur because they seem to take a previous book in this line and modify it when a new camera comes out. Then they perhaps do not catch all the changes that need to be made for the newer camera material, but were somehow missed. I would still recommend it and I would buy it again.

The color photographs accompany the text making it very easy to follow the instructions step-by-step
THIS is the book you need to clearly and concisely introduce you to your new Cannon EOS 77D. The color photographs accompany the text making it very easy to follow the instructions step-by-step. This book is much more useful than the "Mini Manual" that is packaged with the camera. Get it, you won't regret it.

Great book!!!!
I recently purchased the Canon 77D and this book is so much easier to read and understand than the book that came with the camera. I’m learning a lot even tho the camera is similar to my precious one.

Very useful. Highly recommend
Very comprehensive. Easy to read and understand. I recommend this book for anyone who has this camera. If all their books are like this one, buy it for your own camera.

More useful than I expected.
I read the reviews and the complaints about filling the book with basic photographic instruction almost put me off. I'm pleased it didn't, there is an amount of basic technique covered but in a way that relates directly to the use of this specific camera. Photographers who have been in the hobby for a number of years might know WHAT to do but when you buy a significantly upgraded camera you need to know HOW to do it on that new device. My old camera is a Canon 350d around 12 years old. There is a world of difference in the 77d. The book is more useful than I expected it to be.

Comprehesive guide to using the camera
A comprehensive guide to using this camera, covers all the controls and every aspect of use. Will allow you to get the best from the hardware rather than just "point and shoot".Some reviewers have noted that a lot of the guidance relates to all DSLR's and is not specific to this one, but if you already have this knowledge I doubt you'll be buying what is essentially an "entry level" DSLR. I've used bridge cameras and in the past (and film SLRs going back even further) and found this book invaluable for the transition to a full DSLR.

Clear and comprehensive.
I bought this for my son who had recently bought himself a 77D. We were both really impressed with how the book is presented (every tutorial has clear, step by step instructions) and the complete coverage it offers for both beginners and advanced photographers. Definitely the 'go-to' book for all aspects of getting the most from your Canon 77D.Highly recommended.
