Excellent Coffee Machine
I am not sure why this machine gets its negative reviews. We really enjoy it, and I cannot find any flaws to date. It makes a really nice espresso, and I do enjoy an occasional latte. All works perfectly well, and it is worth the money. Delivery was really fast. Good service overall.

Good machine
Bought a used reconditioned unit, had issue with cracked water tank however I was able to source easily and Amazon were very good at giving me a voucher to cover cost (tip use the online chat-product help function). Great machine, good coffee, good crema, not too noisy, nice size, attractive design. I removed one star purely because the finish is black mat and tends to look grey in some lights and it didn't match my black toaster how I had imaged. Have inevitably got used to it. Recommend.

Not worth even considering
We have bought this coffer maker after reading some positive reviews. Unfortunately we discovered that the steam dial at the top of machine is not working at all. According to istructions attached, your are supposed to twist it anti clockwise to release the steam from the 'capucciono maker' ( have no idea why producers called that part like that as it's doesn't make a cappucino, but only frothed milk, therefore they should call it steam makes or sth. It's confusing when you want to buy a product and ypu expect sth different). We have contacted the DeLonghi customer service. It was difficult as well as you can't just find a contact number to DeLonghi coffee makers department. Instead you can call Nespresso customer service. Ridicculous. Finally someone from John Lewis has provided a correct number to DeLonghi coffee makers customer service and we've been told that the steam dial should not work like that and they suggest aking for refund or replacing the product with new one - so we did.You can imagine how much we're surprised when we collected the new machine with THE SAME PROBLEM. The steam dial doesn't twist at all. We've been asking DeLonghi wheter is any blockade that should be unlocked before first use, but they said there is no such a thing. In addition to this, we were also disappointed how the 'warm cup' 'function works. I think there is a lot of marketing language about this product and the producers want to sell the product as best as possible but the functionality leaves a lot to be desired. Warm cup 'function' simply means that you have to make a coffe into your cup, without any coffee. You just attach the filter holder onto the appliance without adding pre-ground coffee. Then you plece your cup and the hot water comes into it and heats it. Then your remover the water, your cup remains hot, and you're doing this step again but now with pre-ground coffee. This is very time consuming to just heat your cup.Otherwise the coffe taste is nice - as long as you like drinking just a warm coffe with no frothed milk. But is it really worth your mony to pay for something that you canot use?

It’s ok, and looks nice, but performance-wise for value would not be my top recommendation.
The media could not be loaded. DeLonghi make such a confusing array of coffee machines that choosing one can feel like a minefield. The choices for me come down to:1. Are you a coffee addict? (drink a lot of coffee)2. How important is it for the machine to look nice in your kitchen?3. Simplicity, ease of use, adaptability.I spent a long time in the store discussing with the rep and looking at machines across a broad range from cheapest to just under £1000. My personal experience from extended use included a cheaper model (which I recommend) and the Nespresso alternative (which would also be second on my list of recommendations). The advantages of this machine are that it looks quite nice, doesn’t take up an inordinate amount of space, has a fairly large water tank ... and it makes coffee. The disadvantages compared to the model at half the price (which I was replacing after many years service) are several.1. The main disadvantage for myself is that it although makes a good espresso, which is what I mostly drink, and is designed to make a very frothy cappuccino, it’s hopeless at a latté. These are three different coffee styles and a good machine should make any of them effortlessly. The problem lies with the steamer attachment. Unlike the basic model (or the steamer on commercial barista machines), this is a two-part nozzle designed primarily to make frothy milk if you don’t know how to use the basic steamer. With a barista machine, you keep the nozzle under the surface of the milk to heat it for latte, and move it close to the surface for cappuccino. This one produces cappuccino milk whatever you try to do with it. (You also have two parts to clean each time instead of one.)I tried removing the outer metal part and simply inserting the inner (rubber) part in the milk — but the pressure is such that it simply blows off too easily, splashing milk everywhere.2. The second disadvantage if you drink lots of coffee (rather than the occasional cup) is ease and speed of use. It takes longer. With the cheaper machine, a single switch heated the water and forced steam through the coffee. Simple. With this one, you have to switch it on first then use the selector. If you don’t use it quite soon it switches itself off again. On the old machine, the attachment for tamping down the coffee was on the machine itself: with this one, it comes separate, so you need somewhere to put it (having said that, it is slightly easier to get the required pressure to compact the coffee with a hand-held instrument, but less convenient). For some reason this machine often also takes much longer to heat the water instead of providing an almost instant drip, but after which it can begin suddenly. (On even more expensive models this fault is compensated by a timer which switches it off after it decides you have enough espresso in your cup.)It has one or two ‘cosmetic’ features like a ‘warming tray’. This only gets really warm if you have to wait ages while it makes an espresso so it’s not something I personally find a plus (though it looks nice). It also has an unnecessary red bobble to tell you if the drip tray is full and for some reason you didn’t notice. These cosmetic features seem to increase in number the more you pay for a machine, have little to do with making coffee and are in many cases even counterproductive. The only additional feature worth paying for in my opinion is a built in coffee grinder if you don’t have one already. My main conclusion is that if your only interest is making good coffee, get the cheapest machine. If it breaks after a few years, it costs little to replace. The other alternative for sheer convenience is a Nespresso machine. Nespressos are fast, pretty reliable, have no mess to clean up and quite addictive to use. The downside is limited choice on which coffee you use, but they are an excellent alternative to the cheapest DeLonghi, and although not cheap you at least get sensible features for you money. We’ve come a long way in complicating the simple process of coffee-making from the traditional Brazilian method of a plastic filter holder placed over a jug!I hope this summary might save one or two people some angst when sorting through the massive choice of coffee machines.(I’ve attached a video clip showing the drip speed to get an espresso. This is very slow. The cheaper De’Longhi, or a Nespresso machine, are very much faster.)

Great coffee machine
Great coffee machine but it does need descaling as often as the instructions say.We have used this constantly since buying it and it has been great. We like to grind our own beans and didn't want a pod machine making loads of plastic waste so this is more eco friendly.

useless but I love it
I have this model in a sexy shade of bronze/champagne. It looks gorgeous, it's time-consuming, but makes a nice espresso. I never use the milk thing. It sometimes tends to leak at the bottom. How long have DeLonghi been making coffee machines? they still manage to make one that leaks. Nevertheless, this is a real quixotic machine for the coffee connoisseur and I'm buying this black one as a standby

Eigentlich schade.
