extremely helpful
This book was easy to read. The concepts were reasonably easy to understand and very applicable to my life. The book gives you a new way of thinking about how to be sober. The author has clearly been through what he is writing about. I appreciate the way that it handles the concept of relapse. Also, it emphasizes the importance of exercise and nutrition which in my experience are critically important.

Retrain the Brain
Essentially I think this is a matter of retraining the brain, based this book. It covers how to do that, how to reframe Myths into truths. For example: the thought of alcohol being a way to decompress after a hard day. Obviously, there re many ways to do this but it is common knowledge among the people I know to unwind with a drink. The author challenges that and encourages the reader tot think about positive affirmations and analytical thinking to determine self-truth. It's presented in three steps and I find them to be helpful in life in general, but can see ho they help with alcohol consumption.

Relatable and Life Changing
Alcoholism is a pretty standard trait in my family - it can be traced back for generations. Do I consider myself an alcoholic? No. But boy, did some of the characteristics pointed out in this book shake me to the core. This book isn’t just for those who have a problem with alcohol…it is also for those that don’t want to drink, but feel the culture doesn’t really allow for that. There are so many good aspects of this book - psychological and physiological affects of alcohol, how to use SMART goals to refrain, breaking the cycle and the habit, questions to ask yourself to get to the root of why you drink, activities to participate in to address your issues…this book hits on things you never considered before. Trust me.Well written and easy to read, with step by step instructions on how to get out of the drinking cycle - do yourself and your body a favor and read this! You will be glad that you did!

Sobriety Support Supplement Essentials!
For those who are in the sober life- anything that can help you get out of the cycle and realize the root patterns and figure out how to re-wire who you were to who you can be without the drinking. As someone who has many family members who struggle with alcohol, this is another tool that I will pass along to offer in their journey to do their best. There are a lot of folks that AA is not quite enough or doesn't work for them (and that's okay) as sobriety and doing better isn't a one size fits all situation. What matters is finding healthy tools and coping mechanisms that enrich and benefit your life and the wiser choices you want to make.Sobriety for those who struggle with alcohol is a difficult road, and anything to make that road easier to tackle in a healthy way is a major plus in my eyes.

Highly Recommended!
Sober on A Drunk Planet by Sean Alexander is a great book if you need help to stop consuming alcohol. I don’t drink; however, there is great advice in this book for many addictions that aren’t alcohol related. As a counselor, I would also recommend this book to my clients who have difficulty controlling their drinking. On of my favorites chapters is The Sober Child: Emotional Intelligence and How to Apply It. As Mr. Alexander points out in chapter 3, alcohol is a “numbing agent” for our emotions. You can’t recognize or feel your emotions if you numb them with alcohol. Alcohol can make you emotionally immature, but the good news is “you can develop emotional intelligence at any age.” I highly encourage anyone struggling with addiction to read the entire book, possibly more than once if needed.
